Tire and other Questions

First of all What is a fet sorry im still new at this.I am running Swampers so my other question is what is a good way to go for more power or torque. What is the best motor or fets or gears or whatever it takes.I have three overlands and play with them all.I want to go big with one as a crawler.I do real crawling with a rock crawler but this is a whole different animal.I also have a light kit and it says not to run the light kit with an upgraded motor why is that and is it true.I think i have done some pretty cool stuff with them all and some cutom bodies to.I have not figured out how to put pictures up and i dont have a web page sorry.

Please help Thanks Rcrawler

check out this link i think it'll explain basically everything you need to know about fets.

http://mini-zracer.com/forums/showth...&highlight=fet

as far as power goes a 2by3 fet stack with a xspeed and 9 tooth pinion is enough for crawling.

here's a good expanation how to post pics. i usually turn down my camera to 1 megapixel to post attachments cause of the file size limit.

hope this helps.

answer

go here for some information on fets...it is an xmod site but mini z had the same princible as an xmod...

http://atomicmods.com/faq.htm#FET%20Stacking

basicly your car has 4 fets...2 fot the steering and 2 for the motor...fets will do nothing for you unless you want to run a high voltage batt system(like lithums) or run a high powered motor that requires the "turbo" upgrade...If you run to much power through stock fets they will fry...meaning if you use a motor that riqures the "turbo upgrade" with stock fets you will fry your pcb...so in order to prevent this you ethier have to upgrade you fets or use an external turbo...

here is a link to what fets look like
http://www.******.com/catalog/produc...oducts_id=3639

Here is an external turbo
http://www.******.com/catalog/produc...oducts_id=3822

oh and it is pointless to upgrade your steering fets.
although you can upgrade your steering fets it is totally pointless

hope this helps

Talking

I cant really say much about fets....I can tell you that your best option is to upgrade fets and not go for the turbo...with the external turbo you lose braking witch is sometimes very important...also it is larger and bulkier then fets...the downs of fets are they are hard to install...thats about all I can help with fets/turbos....Oh and I dont really know anything about it but there is a turbo called woah nelly...this is made by a guy called ph2t....the good about the woah nelly is it is like an external turbo but you dont lose you braking...and also the fets inside of the woah nelly are much better then any fets you could fit on the pcb...hope that helps some

oh and as for the best setup...it really depends on what you plan on doing with your overland...if you have specific ideas of what your plan is then maybe we can help some more

a 2x2 stack of the 4562s or whatever they are is capable of handling 14 amps of current. This is more than you will probably need. You can buy yhrm in the shop her for less than 3 bucks each, you will need 4 of them. I strongly recomedn you make some friends that are handy with a soldering I ron in order to save paying $30-$40 for instaling them. And the best part is they are easy as hell to hidefrom those who are about to get beat by your fetted car.

misinformation like this is what you need to look out for RcCrawler. A 2x2 stack of Si4562 mosfets will improve performance of the stock mosfets and enable you to run a "hotter" motor. But they will not handle 14amps, period. The rating a mosfet has on it's datasheet is limited by several other factors that just this maximum current rating. In reality it's a lot lower. This is not Bull's fault, it's just another case of how quickly incorrect info can become gospel.

Here's my tips.

Woah Nelly v1.2 turbo and a nice Kyosho X speed or minizworkshop 35 turn motor.

OR

If you want to go for a mosfet stack solution instead, use a 4x2 stack of IRF7389 or a 3x2 stack of Si4562. People claim the Si 4562 give better performance over the 7389's, but I disagree. My testing has shown the 7389's to give more "punch" to the motor, but hey, if you want the best the woah nelly turbo is like a 16x2 stack of mosfets.

Ultimately nothing substitues for your own research, suggest you lurk and look around to see what is the best for you.
