So I have 2 new MR-03’s and the motors don’t run. Took one out of the box, bound it, and only the steering works. 100% no motor response. 2nd car ran two full battery cycles on the track. Installed new batteries, car has steering, motor will not run. What is the best way to trouble shoot and get these cars running.
Thank you for some suggestions to fix.
Can you easily turn them by hand, if you rotate the spur gear with your fingers? I would double-check gear mesh that it's not too tight, and also check the screws that hold the motor wires to the board.
the yellow square cap on the motor is essentially a breaker. usually they can be reset buy turning off and on, but if they are defective maybe that is your issue.
try removing one and see if that solves your problem.
I found the black wire where it screws to the board broken at the factory solder joint. It’s now fixed and running. The 4th new car still does not run even after I disconnected the yellow square cap.
Pull the motor wires fron the screw terminals and connect them to a single AAA (hold the black wire to the negative tab and touch the red to positive. If the motor spins, then warranty the car with kyosho. If the motor does not spin, contact kyosho and see if they can send you a replacement motor. Kyosho is usually very good about warranty replacement.
The stock motor wires are quite stiff which puts strain on the solder joints. I almost always replace them with more flexible wire and hard wire to the PCB. I am always a little nervous about a motor terminal screw coming loose... I would test thoroughly before soldering to the pads on the board, but the solder is a much more secure connection than solder and a screw terminal.

What is everyone using for more flexible wire?
