Feature Request

Auto-detection of driver registration for populating event driver registration.

I would love to have a feature that other less feature rich programs include that allows you to populate the driver registration for a race by simply allowing cars to drive under the bridge. I currently have to have all drivers drive under the bridge in a training session, then check each name/transponder against the registration directory and select from there. This is a time consuming task that could otherwise be done in less than a minute by having all participating drivers for that configured class simply drive under the bridge. IT would also reduce the opportunity for error as I can and do make mistakes cross referencing the directory with the training session. Especially in a noise/movement congested environment that this effort creates.

In our case, nearly everyone in the club has multiple transponders, many of which have long been discarded for whatever reason which leaves the registration directory filled with invalid entries which in turn takes more time to sort thru to pick out those identified in training session to add to class/events. I've discussed purging registration in another, more appropriate thread.

Wouldn't it be nice to have this before the end of Nov.

I understand and I agree it will be useful for most of users.

I think it could be something like:

- Open the championship manager
- Create the race (or open it)
- Go to inscription page
- Click on a new button "Start registration session". The button name will change to "Stop session in progress"

ZRound will be opened and start counting (free practice). All detected racers will be added automatically to the race. If ZRound were already running when the "start registration" were used then all the already detected racers will be added as well.

The "registration session" will be stopped when the free practice be stopped or by pressing the "Stop registration session"

Is it ok? Easy to understand and to manage? Any suggestion/improvement?

Thanks in advance.

That would be perfect! This would save me at least 10 minutes a race class and make it so much easier to manage, especially for those with a large existing registration directory like we have.

I like the button change to 'stop session in progress' as this would be a double check to the operator to confirm before stopping a race in session by mistake.
Would you be able to set the duration for the registration session? and if so, where might that be located? I assume the 'training' tab. Also assume this can be manually stopped if by chance all the drivers are detected before the set time expires.

I thought to utilize the "training duration" in training tab. I can add a new option but people don't like so much options.

You are on time, what's your preference?

The feature will be implemented on next release 1.18.01. Details at https://www.zround.com/support/roadm...?version_id=16

More often than not it takes as much as 10 minutes to corral all the drivers to get them to run under the bridge however 5 minutes would be the optimum and assume that if people are late, I could simply run the "Start registration session" again and stop it when done. Assuming that if this is run a second time, it will simply add to the registration vs. starting from scratch again. In this way, you could technically run it as many times as you need to.

If you make it configurable, I would use the training duration setting in the 'training' tab.

That's the idea. I've just published the "beta" 1.18.01

ZRound Suite - 1.18.01 (Scheduled For Release 2018-11-24)

Registration Session for quick racer registration on championships

- 0000070: [Feature] "Registration session" option (jesus) - feedback.
- 0000071: [Feature] Ignore unregistered racers in races (jesus) - feedback.
- 0000069: [Feature] Add "active" property to racers (jesus) - feedback.

Regarding the request on this thread

It is not allowed:

- Two races detecting racers at the same time.
- Start detection if the clock is already running
- Racers removed from registration session are NOT removed from the race once they have been registered.

It is allowed:

- Register racers manually
- Transponder colission. If there are more than one racer with the transponder, the registration will be completed when the user chooses the right racer.
- Several detection sessions. Sessions do not start from zero, new racers are added.
- You can close the championship manager, while registration session is active all racers detected will be added to the race registrar.

Download link: https://www.zround.com/request.php?55

Awaiting for feedback ...

I downloaded, installed and it's showing as version 1.16 build 5

I do not see any new options in register menu.

Ouch!, you are right. I did everything but compile the new binaries into the new installer.

I'm sorry, now it's ok.

Thumbs up

Tested this today and wanted to be sure to say THANK YOU! This makes data entry so easy for race registration!

Tip:
1. Make sure when you close or end an ongoing practice session to start the detection session that you clear registered drivers first Otherwise, it will bring the entire pre-populated list into the registration session. The prompt to end an ongoing session worked perfectly however it does not automatically clear the registration session before starting the detection session and must be done manually.
2. If a driver switches transponders in detection session, be sure to go back in the registration dialog and remove the incorrect listing.

Thank you for implementing this feature which has greatly simplified the user experience.

All right

Regarding the Tip 1, it’s by design but ... do you think it will be better to clear the list before starting the session automatically? Or it should be as is and let the user do it manually when needed?

I don't mind having to do it manually, just want to make sure this gets into instructions to others.
On a typical day, we run open practice session until registering for qualifying to the practice session list of drivers and be extensive. I just have to remember to clear the registration, then start the detection session.

I wanted to thank you again for adding this feature! We ran our first formal 'event' using this as it saved me so much time, stress and frustration and very thankful to have this available.
