Mini-Z Electronic Board Transplant to Xmods Evo.
I am planning to buy an AD band FM conversion with 2x3 FETs for my AWD Mini-Z and thought that if it was possible to transfer my Mini-Z actual 2x3 electronic board to my Xmod Evo-Pro??
As I noticed, there are not much differences between the wiring of these two Electronic boards; power output for the motor, power output for the steering motor, On/off switch, if desirable can be removed, the only difference I see is that the steering Pot, on the Evo have 3 wires and on the Mini-z 2 wires. Maybe the Steering Pot on the Evo can be by-passed as it is on the mini-z to accomplish the 2 wires scenario. Don’t know if the Mini-Z board could handle a set of AA Li-Ion batteries.
If any of you know of any one how has experimented with this transplant, please let me know the outcome and the “know how” to achieve this project with success. Comments are very welcome!
I have expended a few dollars on my Xmod Evo chassis and it is really a shame that the transmitter is so bad.
The AD band for mini-z actually have 3 wires if you want to use that on the Evo it will most likely be a direct swap of pots. Since it is a 3 wire pot, it will be less sensitive to the value of the pot resistance. The mini-z regular board with 2 wire just act just like a variable resistor. If the resistance of the mini-z pot is much higher than the Evo, then you will loose steering range when you swap the pot. Transmitter range adjustment will not be able to compensate. Otherwise, a pot is a pot. There is another pot on the mini-z circuit board that lets you center the steering if is way off.
