i don't race competitively but the most popular bodies seem to be the cr5, clk, nsx and maybe skyline. these are all long/wide bodies which give you the best handling.

read allot of the old posts in racing threads and look at the pictures. you'll see mostly the cars i listed.

i have had the vitz, viper gts-r, altezza, viper ad, supra and cr5. of these i prefer the cr5 for looks and handling.

the 360 is good. strong, wide and long. The skyline is a bad body(unless if u never crash) the clk is pretty good too.

I've got the Calsonic Skyline, and have driven the CRAP out of it, Front end is just fine. Its got a couple chips here and there... but nothing on the front end is gone wrong. And i've had head on collisions with 2 X-speeds going full speed... LOL

There is a thread on another rc forum, with someone comparing nearly every single body. The focus seems like the 206, which means it handles well but flips easily. I have the altezza. Not bad, but it flips a lot. If someone could provide the thread, that would be great.

Basically the wider and the flatter it is the better it will handle. My NSX NEVER flips... and can go under doors.

It's also nice and stable on straightaways.

However, most racers consider the Corvette C5R flawless... but it only comes in ONE color so that's a big minus. The NSX you can get plain white.. and do whatever with it.

If u care about looks, the 2002 NSXs can take a real beating and still maintain a nice look to it.

The mirrors would probably last if you're real careful with it, since it's probably the only car whose body is actualy wider than the mirrors. But if you go racing with buddies you're sure to lose them anyways.

I've resprayed my ex-Takata NSX many times. It still looks good because the headlights and many parts are still there, the headlight clear cover may fall off but the actual headlight's can't fall off. It's better than my friend's CLK, after years of abuse the headlights have dissappeared and would never look as good even after a respray.

Oh, my track's made of PVC and metal and wood. All the hard stuff.

Aside from all that, the best handling bodies for racing are:

CR5
2002 NSX
CLK
Modena

Basically look for low and wide bodies. I'm sure there are a few more bodies i've miss out from Kyosho's line.

I have recently switched to the Vette and it is more stable than the others for 2 reasons. It has a wider track than any of the other mr-01 wide cars (1.5mm front / 3mm rear) and it has a lower height. To give you an idea, you can only fit an AMB personal transponder inside if you do not run the top shock. That said I still like the original Benz for overall stability but have not decided whick I like best.

The NSX is also really good and has tons of steering but I have never liked the way it felt.
