Are These Good Batteries?

I'm currently shopping for rechargeables for my MR-02 and found these 1500 mAh batteries. Are these good?

Usually anything with a high MAH rating will produce quite a long run time but very little power throughout the run. Generally speaking, anything rated over 1000 MAH will not give you much performance. For the best balance of performance and durability(run time) 900MAH is where you want to be. There are a wide variety of brands to choose from. It becomes a matter of personal preference. Some like chocolate some like vanilla but it all makes you fat.

On the flip side though if you have more motor, then you need batteries with less power(punch). These will tend to calm the effects of poor motor choice. For quite a while you will find that speed is not your friend so don't be tempted or lured over to the "dark side".

There is no way those batteries really have 1500mah of capacity, it just doesn't happen in a cell the size of an AAA. That is the first clue to run away and look elsewhere.

I'd have to agree here. I've bought many types of batteries and tested them on my West Mountain Radio Computerized Battery Analyzer. Anything that claims numbers that high (1200mah+) is basically a lie and a sign to stay away.

If you are looking for a great deal, and a high capacity AAA, that still has good punch. I recommend "8-Pack AAA 800mAh NiMH Rechargerable Battery" from hobbypartz.

I have a fleet of these. They may be a little shy of voltage of the highest end batteries but ROUTINELY they are significantly faster than a well charged set of turnigy, turnigy premium. As fast as Peak racing batteries (After the first 2 minutes of punch of the PEAK wears off). I'd say only the TRP batteries are faster. Also, these 800mah batteries ALL come in over 800mah at a 1 amp discharge on a Turbomatcher 8.

I ended up buying a set of 800 mAh Amazon branded batteries that have been awesome.
