@akura2 - pretty cool...

@ub0211042 - thanks for your reply... hmm you mean no polarity issues? kinda find that a bit weird...

anybody else use a dnano gyro for the mr03 or the mr03 gyro for the dnano?

so based on the pictures can anybody identify if my gyro is for the dnano or mr03?
i'm a bit tempted now... but it will be a very expensive experiment if it fails....

apart from kyosho, are there any other 3rd party gyro's produced for the dnano / mr03?

Herman,

1) MR-03 gyro and dnano gyro are the same although dNaNo version from Kyosho lists for more (and costs more wholesale). My customers have proven these are the same as we run both cars at the shop

3) Another manufacturer for gyros is "X-power" which some shops carry. You can search it

That's why Litp and I bought the MR-03 Gyro in the first place.... and then we got Dnanos and we were like... "hmmm.... I wonder..."

he was more bold to experiment though... LOL

ok... ok... drum roll pls....

i did it... tried it out and... whallllah.... phittt zitz... kaput... a trail of white smoke emitted from the chassis or gyro or something... ended up frying??? scratches head in wonder....

not!!!! hehehe... it worked!!!! but couldn't tell if it is really worth while at the moment since i just drove it on smooth tiles... it didn't seem to have any big counter steering movements as compared to the mr03 gyro system video seen on youtube...

i'm still thinking that it's the dnano gyro... probably the default settings for the dnano gyro and mr03 gyro are different??? can anybody confirm the gyro settings for each?

a big muchos gracias to all who replied...

I recently bought MR-03 Gyro to play around some slippery floors at home.
herman is right.. The steering correction is not as big as shown on some youtube videos. Overall the car became more stable but the gyro assistance is minimal I would say and I end up a little bit disappointed.
Then I made myself ICS cable following THIS thread. It works and the default MR-03 gyro settings are:
ST.GAIN: 90 (out of 255)
TH.GAIN: 60 (out of 255)

(the dNano defaults are ST.GAIN:128 / TH.GAIN:128)

After playing with the ICS settings I made the car handle better. Maxing out the ST.GAIN and middle TH.GAIN worked fine for me.

Overall the Gyro unit without an ICS cable is not as useful as expected.
Adding ICS cable makes it great toy to play with

I have both MR03 and dNaNo gyro. They are exactly the same except the length of the cable, whereas the one for MR03 is longer. I've tried to put in the one for dNano to MR03 but found that even though I can fit it in, the cable is very tight and I wouldn't recommend it. On the other hand, fitting the one for MR03 (with longer cable) for dNano is not a problem at all. So, they are interchangeable and functionally the same.

Latest ASF Manager software version is 1.13

Regarding the usefulness of the gyro, here is my view.
1. If the car has been setup properly for a particular track, you may not need it. But I would still recommend putting a gyro in as you can always tune down the ST and TH gain ratio to minimize its effect most of time when you are racing flawlessly. You'll be glad you have the gyro to function whenever you make a mistake.
2. If you are new and don't want to spend too much time tuning the car for a particular track, the easier solution is to put a gyro on. But the catch is it'll be slower for corners if you don't tune the ST and TH gain ratio using ICS.
3. For very slippery track, a gyro is a must.

Just my 2 cents.
