I have been testing a few different foam tires on some of our tracks we are building and have had a lot of problems with the tires coming off the rims at high speed turns. What do the forum members use to keep the foam tires from coming off? Do you have this same problem? Is there a glue that works better than others on the mini-z foam tires? We have just finished testing the minizracer soft foam tires and a few other manuf. foam tires and have the same problem with all of them. I would appreciate any input. Thanks!
We use soft foam borders for most of our tracks and the rubber borders may be causing most of the problem when the cars slightly brush the walls at high speed. What do you think of a thin layer of double sided foam tape. We are using both the standard and wide style tire and rim. The minizracer tires do grip much better than the soft 20 degree rubber tires on the track material we are experimenting with.
...some of our racers use foams, and we ALWAYS use doublesided scotch tape. It is thin enough to still fit the tires, but they keep the tires from flying off on the high speed sweepers. Give it a shot...

Thanks, I think the double sided scotch tape should solve the problem. Do you have any suggestions on a good foam tire for the F-1. We will be testing this car next week with foam tires on our tracks and are looking for a good foam tire manuf. for this car. The soft degree rubbers work well, but I think the foams will be ideal on our track material.
The Squat F1 foams work great. They are available here from the "Shop". Also, sometimes regular "office supply" style double stick dosen't stick well enough. Tamiya makes some VERY sticky tape to mount foams with on 1/10 cars. I haven't had the chance to try it yet but, unless the small size of the wheel becomes a problem, this tape will definetly work and most likely reduce chunking of the rubber caused by the edges coming loose.
just like latency... we use double sided tape... most of us use the one made by 3m...
one possible cause might be the foam/rubber borders you have at your track... try to use some smooth stuff... like 3-5mm acrylic sheets... this way the cars won't snag on the borders...
