new kyosho store - kyosho omotesando, japan
1/10
new kyosho shop in otomesando…
hi folks, got back from japan, and well it was fantastic… anyway here’s my report on kyosho’s new shop in otomesando…
otomesando can be somewhat likened to beverly hills – where designer labels (like louis vuitton, armani, dior, todds & ralph lauren, just to name a few) house clothing, apparel and footwear in their own respective brand name shops that line the street… it was a quite impressive and interesting stroll down otomesando dori (“dori” means street in japanese)… but now onto the shop…

kyosho otomesando is located at a relatively new mall (well it looked new to me) called omotesando hills (refer to attachments – they are pretty much self explanatory telling you how to get there, and where the store is located within the building – it’s on b3f by the way)

…and finally to complete the whole mini-z experience, kyosho omotesando installed a mini-z racing circuit inclusive of a lapcounter, which is open to the public…
cost to run? 500 yen for 30 min (that’s approx $4.28), this however includes a car rental… well i must say that the whole store had a hypnotic effect on me, and I found myself mesmerized as my hand was scrambling towards and into my pocket, fishing out and handing over my 500 yen coin, shucking it towards the track attendant, faster than you can say shazammm…
the track even had a bar right next to it, catering to thirsty shoppers / patrons… can’t remember if they serve beer though… if they did, it would probably give a whole new meaning to drinking and driving… hmm… taking another look at the bottom right of last pic … what do you think?..

to some extent it was quite unfortunate that the prices were as marked on the package… so i guess kyosho is doing a good job of protecting their distributors… that plus i guess you have to pay some sort of premium on things when you have a store in upscale omotesando (this isn’t the place to buy things as your wallet will definitely take a beating)…
i easily spent 13,000 yen (approx $111) on 2 autoscales, and a couple of parts (could’ve been more if my wife didn’t stop me... hehehe)… i’m pretty sure that the stuff you can buy here will be marked down once you set foot in one of the many hobby shops in akihabara (electric town)… http://agusta.ms.u-tokyo.ac.jp/agusta/akihabara.html from link http://www.mini-zracer.com/forums/sh...ighlight=japan

kyosho otomesando was a really nice experience, a good concept store to promote and showcase their products to their potential market… and with a steady flow of curious shoppers, i’m pretty sure that seing a beautifully detailed running small scale remote control car on the professionally made track will indeed make a lasting impression on anybody who walks on in…

Herman,
You should've bought your stuffs at RC-champ or Futaba at Akihabara. But keep in mind Kyosho must be paying outrageous rents for the shop. Paying list prices on parts ain't too bad compared to the kits. I know what kind of area the shop is in.
Nice report and pictures though.
Does the shop carry rare and hard-to-find parts such as Batmobile; various F1 cars & parts, etc...?
