Today i went to outside of my house to have fun with my Z like the other days. I got a new RACER TURBO and a MOTOR i had laying around.
The Z was pretty fast and i was happy.. but then came steering problems. The car when going fast and at 10 meter +- from the receiver started to make quick and weird turns alone.
(the Z and the controler's batteries are good and recharged)
I though it was the antenna and i went back home to fix it up.
The antenna screw was too loose and i fixed it up and then i came back and started running again.
The Problem:
After a fiew minutes i was runing the car and it didnt turn left anymore. Instead of turning left it makes a weird noise like scratching or something.
(The car is in perfect shape with nothing broken)
I have disasembled the servo and all the mecanincs look good.
Even the steering bar is in its right place. I turned the car on with the disasembled servo and i saw it steering right but not left again. The little servo motor is with strange behaviour.
I think it can be the potentiometer..
might be the potentiometer,
or perhaps even the transistors linking to the servo motor...
i was playing around with a hitec hs-55 b4 and it pretty much
did the same thing....one way to check would be to take
the servo motor out of the casing,
turn the car and transmitter on,
and notice that the motor is running in one direction,
turn the steering wheel on your tx and see if the motor changes
direction, if it doesn't...prolly something wrong
with the transistors IMO.....though i'm not entirely sure,
i didn't know how to cure this problem b4 so i ended up
buying a new servo....
as well, check to see that the wires connecting
to the potentiometer aren't shorted in some way...
good luck! and be careful about running the components
without covers if you do try this test....
I'll almost guarantee that you've stripped your servo gears.
Those symptoms are usually related to broken or stripped servo gears.
I don't think it's anything as serious as a 'potentiometer' or servo motor. I experienced the same problem.
Here's a method to check it out before disassembling.
Straighten the front wheels by hand.
Turn the TX to the right, if it works and centers the wheels, then turn to the left, if the wheels stay left and a 'scratching noise' is emmited from the steering gear, then I am 99% sure one of the servo gears are broken.
Remove the servo gears and examine them closely, it's pretty hard to notice any damage when the servo gears are assembled.
If you hear grinding sounds.. its 110% servo tooth is broken off... it will still turn because it someimtes grabs the other teeth, but when it hits the blank toothless bald spot, the teeth grind together...
frequency issue, is likely due to the motor you had just lieing around... put some capacitors on it .
