Kuoros Mercedes Sauber C9

Kuoros Mercedes Sauber C9

Kouros Mercedes Sauber C9

Materials:
Kyosho Mercedes Sauber C9 unpainted autoscale
Rustoleum 2XX Heirloom White spray paint
Rustoleum 2XX Satin Black
Tamiya Gold Leaf
Tamiya Clear Yellow
Tamiya Flat Black
Model Masters Steel
Future Floor Polish
Pattos Kouros Sauber C9 decals, 1/27 scale, clear vinyl in custom inverse color scheme

I taking over livery ideas with a fellow club racer at Remnant, I decided to give this Inverse livery idea a try in that the Kouros Livery is dark. I've already made a couple other Kouros livery in alternate colors however always used the standard color scheme for the decals. For this one, going with an off white base required an inverse color scheme for the decals for higher contrast. Also changed it up with satin black (couldn't find flat in 2XX) for the top tear drop, which retains the default decal colors.
This one remains a clean livery which I've found to be much quicker and easier to do in the end. I just have to pay more attention to the hand brush painting of the vents, etc. to keep mistakes to a minimum, there are always mistakes...
Like my off white Michelin, went with the gold/black wheels.
Pattos once again was gracious to complete my customized decal set modification requests. As I noted before, be conscientious of others time as no one wants to waste time. I was not explicitly clear in some of my requests which required a redo on Pattos part which is understandably frustrating.
To keep the contrast with the tear drop roof, i only clear coated the base of the car. The stain black has 3 coats so it should be durable enough. It still feels soft to me compared to fully cured Krylon. Luckily, the decal sheets comes with enough to do two cars so maybe one day I'll do a Kuoros for myself. All of the ones I've done to date have gone to others.

Creative. Looks good! I always enjoy seeing your work. I am just finishing a body (finally) that I will have to post Picts of soon.

Btw, thingiverse has some dummy chassis files if you can find a 3d printer ( or you can order it printed.) I can't post on your wtb post for some reason or I would have put the link there.

Thanks, always welcome feedback on good/bad. In my field, constructive criticism is a part of the job.

I also hope to show in my work that you can achieve good results without all the expensive gear like a paint booth, air brush, expensive paints, etc. my biggest cost on any project are the decals. Spray paint is cheap in comparison and a single can typically lasts me several cars. I often have to toss paint for sitting to long vs. using it all. My kids get a kick out of watching me paint out in the rain under an umbrella or snow.

For the detail work, I just buy what’s available or on sale thus the mix of Tamiya, Model Master and Testors. All being said, Tamiya lays out nice and cleans up well/easily. More so than Model Masters.

I tested Model Masters Dull Coat top coat in an effort to get high contrast in finish on the top teardrop since I couldn’t find flat 2XX paint however testing came out looking foggy almost and would rather stick with the satin finish. I have not yet tried Tamiya or other dull coats as LHS has been out of stock.
