Jota upgraded tires for stock wheels
I'm looking to get upgraded tires for the Jota body I have picked up. I must keep the stock wheels for the class it will be ran in. what would be the best tires to run on those wheels?

Jota runs normal front/rears at 1.5N/3W. Offset doesn't matter for tires, so just normal F/R sizing. I like soft and super soft in the rear, and soft or medium up front myself. Being relatively inexpensive and always useful, I tend to order 6-8 pairs of tires at a time, so I can figure out which works best with each setup.

are you sure the tires are the same? comparing them side by side, it looks like the Jota tire is much thicker with a smaller inside diameter. I have a picture, but it wont upload, I'll try again.

I got the picture to upload. took a lot of cropping, but it worked. The left tire with the visible tread is from the Jota, the other one is from my Audi R8.
I can put the Audi tires on the jota, but they are much smaller, it is visibly noticeable.

The jota runs ‘classic’ tires, more for show than go. Just run regular tires.

A picture of the wheels next to normal wheels might be a little easier to see if they will accept a standard tire (which they look a little smaller than the standard wheel). If you could measure the diameter of the wheel, or just show a picture of the wheel next to a standard and LM wheel, we could better diagnose the tire situation.
In general, I have been liking the low profile 30 front tire. It works well out of the bag without being cut down. When I need to use a standard sized front wheel, this is what I have been using. For the rear, Kyosho 20d radials, PN soft or PN super soft are good options to have to adjust the cars rotation.
If the tire is a smaller diameter, you might want to get some LM front tires. These have a 17.5mm inner diameter, and will work with slightly larger wheels. I often run them on 18.5, 19, and 19.5mm front wheels (moving up in wheel diameter as they wear since I am really cheap with my club racing tire usage and this allows me to get maximum tire life out of the tire while maintaining a specific ride height).
For rear tires, if the wheel diameter is smaller, you might be able to take a PN 5 spoke wheel, cut the spokes out and sleeve the classic wheel to fit a standard tire on it properly... you would need to cut down the 1mm inner guide that would prevent the sleeve from seating fully.
Now you can start to understand why I disagreed with the rule to demand use of the autoscale wheel that comes with the body, as it can seriously limit body choice when you consider the wheels that come with some of these bodies.
A little glue on the sidewall can help reduce front end traction. And the tires should be taped down to the wheels with R246 tire tape.
You can unscrew the top shock shaft, and dip the screw head in some thick grease, then screw it back together to give some better dampening since the car cannot use a disc damper if I remember correctly. You can adjust the rear droop (amount of downtravel that the rear end has by screwing this shaft in and out a little) to increase or decrease the steering. In general, more droop (screwed out) will give more steering response off throttle, and less droop will transfer less weight to the front end off throttle giving more stability. Start with droop limited to about 1mm (distance the wheels lower when lifting the car) increase or decrease from there and see how it effects the cars handling and traction rolls.
If the rear end is not supported enough by the top shock spring, you can either try stretching out the spring a little, or using a zip tie around the body of the shock to preload the spring.
Running a wide t-plate without the triangular t-plate adapter would also reduce pitching in the corners, and would help in keeping the car flat. If it is an RM car

or just run LM tires. They should be the same no? the front wheels for both are 17mm.
I agree with EMU, this is why our club rules state offsets must match stock as close as possible but not the exact wheel. No one runs classic tires for example. it may even be difficult to find them.

I have a picture with the LM tires, it's just too big of a file to upload. I'll have to shrink it down on my PC.
But looking at it, LM rears look pretty close. I'll see if they fit.
Sadly the rules for the Clasic GT class do require the stock wheels.

Worst case, run tight fit normal tire and hope the front doesn’t drag on the track.
I believe classic tires only come in 30/40. Classic tires start with part number MZT.

I had looked for some 30 or softer classic tires before, and had no luck finding them.
LM fronts should get you in a good place. I used Europa classic wheels for a little while on my LM car. I am just curious as tiki the diameter and width of the rear tire. I love LM getting tires, in fact it is my most used front tire. You can use them on the classics front, then when they get to small to be useful, put them on a 19mm wheel and use them again. These ties can run for a year of racing if not more. I would be more concerned with the rear tire than the front, I just don't remember the diameter. I only had a white body jota, so never got the wheels with it.
I use a photo resizing app on my phone, and all pictures that I high.at on MZR come from the phone. It it easier than doing it on PC.

LM rears fit perfectly. They are too wide for the front though. However LM fronts fit with a little effort, and only set a tad lower than stock, but still more than the regular wheels woild have sat. so there is no issue now. at least with tires
I'm putting the RM mount on, and it's as if the t plate on the bottom is too short. I think I'm missing something

You need to use the longer RM t-plate. If this were a 90mm wheelbase, you could get away with an MM in the longer position.

I thought I had one, and just swapped over the t plate... turns out I only had another MM t plate. I have one ordered and it is on it's way.
