Thumbs up Shelby Cobra

Hi All,

this is my next project after the previous Lotus Europa Special which ended up being pretty good. This next project of mine is the Shelby Cobra (after being cut short by my annoying cousin who I was forced to give my Ferrari 360 Modena to him which was going to be for my Mini Z)

But anyway - here I am again with another project for the Mini Z. The Shelby Cobra is made by Revell and will be finished soon enough as I will commence Uni soon....

Anyway - I've only just started on the car and I'm sure many of you are Shelby Cobra fans like myself. Here is a photo of the Cobra masked and painted the white strips.

Stay Tuned and you'll see the Cobra through it's stages of assembly and completion.

Cheers~!

Talking Stage 2 of my Shelby Cobra

Hi All,

I have finished spray painting the Shelby Cobra and the paint has dried. I am yet to remove the masking tape which was placed on so I do not mark the white strips on the car. The paint job turned out okay, but could have been better (due to weather reasons - since it's very humid and about to rain).... But anyway - what's done is done and I'll just make the most of it anyway...

Here is a photo of the Shelby Cobra with the masking tape still on the cover. I hope you like it.

Cheers~!

What model is it? 427?

Or the full SC with body stripes and side pipes?

My Dad has a replica with a Ford 351 in it. Its scary fast, can't image what the 427 for real was like.

He has some new heads for it waiting to go on that should give 380bhp and 400lb ft torque.

Talking Message for Butler

Butler,

you are right. It's the Shelby Corba 427 "Baldwin-Motion" Drag car. I've decided to go a little different from the normal full gloss black paintjob as I find that to be too dull. So I've done blue with white strips. I hope you will like it... I can't wait to get this car finished.

It'll be another fine cover to add to my collection of covers... Next thing I'll probably get for my car might be some GPM Alloy Battery Heatsink Mounts. I'll keep away from the covers for a while... Getting tired of making them now...

Anyway - thanks and stay tuned as I should have the Cobra completed within the next 24 hours......

Cheers~!

Cool,

How are you mounting your bodies? I have a Revell Focus WRC in progress at the mo..

I have some wider wheels on order to try, but I noticed with the Tamiya kits you can fit the Z wheels inside the model ones. (I think you have mentioned this too) I wanted a Tamiya kit but couldn't get one. This revell wheels are crappy

I wish I had a digital camera.

I drove a '67 427 Corvette once...that car is by far the fastest I have been in until today...I have driven vipers, ferraris, 440 mopars, etc...there is just something about the 427 vette that blew my mind...

I hit 80 in 3rd gear and the rear wheels never stopped spinning....but boy, would I love to drive it again

Justin, looks great - when this one is finished I think we might have to update our Rides section w/ your Europa and Cobra as the new Featured Rides!

Talking Stage 3 of my Cobra Completed... Almost Finished!!!

Hi All,

I've almost finishe my Shelby Cobra. I've painted the other parts which needed to be painted and fitted, but I'm waiting for the front and rear bumpers to dry and in the end I will buff them as much as I can to get it to shine

I also need to repaint the white strips and some of the white strips came off with the Tamiya masking tape which was too sticky... But otherwise - the model in general is okay. I have to add the body mounts onto the cover which is easy enough and the last and final thing would be to take another photo of the car with the bumpers and lights.

Mini Z: I will send you a complete and better angled photos of the Europa and the Cobra along with Subaru WRX STi and New Mini. I'm also thinking of making a Ford GT40 cover if I can get my hands on one since they are almost impossible to find here in Australia and the only company which makes them (Fujimi) is a pain in the backside to purchase from since they will not ship just one model. If you want - you have to order at least a 40 foot long container worth of their models so they will ship them. So yeah - I'll be on the look out for one.

Kenichi: How's your Vette going? I'm thinking of getting the Vette C5-R (24 hours Daytona edition). Anyway - I'll see if I have time because of Uni.... But as soon as you get some photos of your new Vette - you must post them and notify me of them. Thanks Kenichi - love your work!

Please post any further comments of improvements on the Shelby Cobra before it's completed and before it's too late. All suggestions will be appreciated (negative or positive), no offence will be taken as no one is perfect.

Cheers~!

Talking Completed Cobra

Hi All,

sorry to keep you waiting for the completion of my Shelby Cobra. It's now finished and as requested - placed with rubber tires instead of the the orange reston foam tires. I hope you like it.

I'm still going to make a few more touch up which aren't too noticeable in the photo since it's NOT a big touch-up at all.

But anyway - it's complete and here it is....

Cheers~!

does the cobra fit a stock setting, or did you have to make an extendo-plate?? I've been looking everywhere for an old cobra model, ever since I saw Steffano's page!!
