Why not to buy from tower, especialy when they seem to hate you as much as they do me

Why not to buy from tower, especialy when they seem to hate you as much as they do me...

OK I wanted some ready sets to part out so yea, I gave in and actualy got them at tower, these were NOT scratch and DEnt boxes.. I ordered and paid for the full priced items...

My first order was for 3 readysets... I bought 3 cuz I part them out on my site so every one can get the parts cheaper from take outs then they can buying it in a package, and I can make buck toward my Mini-Z repairs.

Ok first order comes, 2 of the 3 readysets arrive from Chicago, the other one still enroute from Reno... this is how one of the boxes arrives

http://mywebpages.comcast.net/dracon...owerBoxA-1.jpg
http://mywebpages.comcast.net/dracon...owerBoxA-2.jpg

Ok, this dont look very new to me, some might think oh that just happened in shipping.. well the outer box theyshipped this one in didnt have a single scratch on it, and was not open.. even though it was orignaly mailed to the wrong address, and I didnt get it for like 5 days after it was supose to be delivered... (a fed ex error).

Ok i contact tower, they say to send it back, at my cost they will reemurse the shipping, I didnt like that idea the way thigns were it would probly get lost then id have no mini-z or the money from it... and they would not pay for insurance or priority mail etc..

I feel it should have been a scratch and dent item wich I have seen some mini-z readysets sell for 40-70$ in the scratch and dent area of their site (members only)...

Eventualy I convinced them to send me a set of servo gears incase the servo was striped, cuz that dent is right were the blasted front tires are...

The rest of this order was so-so... body clips broken from a porsche body in the box etc... simple things. but the rest was ok.

Ok, i actualy was stupid enough to place a 2nd order from tower after that.. figuring oh I got the bad experience that only happens once in a while it can only get better . WRONG

This time I again ordered 3 more ready sets to fill take out part orders... and replace the SMASHED set that was sent last time.. (I actualy kept it)... ok so the first ready set arrives from chicago, and 2 more on the way from reno... I open the big box to find the readyset inside, cool its the LAST white WRX they had... good I i think, then I noticed the body side of the box was inserted UPSIDE Down a DEAD GIVEAWAY it was opened, i thought naw maybe it was a fluke, then I saw scotch tape holding the box shut (very poorly), over top of the stock tape that is there from the factory, oh great! ... yep it was opened already... the tape holding the car to the styrohpome was all removed etc.. so some one had this opened it, put it back in the box and sent it back. and this is what was in it...

http://mywebpages.comcast.net/dracon...owerBoxB-1.jpg
http://mywebpages.comcast.net/dracon...owerBoxB-2.jpg
http://mywebpages.comcast.net/dracon...owerBoxB-3.jpg

http://mywebpages.comcast.net/dracon...owerBoxB-9.jpg
http://mywebpages.comcast.net/dracon...werBoxB-10.jpg

The crystal from the TX does not even apear to be from a Mini-Z, but hte one in the car is... there was little bits of dirt/dust in teh Perfex area of the box etc... other hten that the car worked fine, and I wound up keeping it, it will be my 2nd mini-z, since mine is sort of dead now.

Again they said just ship it back, but at least this time they mailed me a POSTAGE DUE tag for the box.. and gave me a coupon for 10$, an inconvenience coupon it was called, hmm I guess they do this so often its just built right into their web site -- also this white WRX was supsoe to come with a free Silver audi body, wich was no were to be seen, I had to complain to get my free body, wich they eventualy sent... like this, shiped in a paper towel box:

http://mywebpages.comcast.net/dracon...werBodyA-1.jpg
http://mywebpages.comcast.net/dracon...werBodyA-2.jpg

Now this I belive just happen cuz of the way they ship their items, they only put those air pack things on 3 sides of the box, so the item inside is right up agains the other 3 sides, so if its kicked droped or whatever on those 3 sites (50% chance) its gona take the full force of the blow... they NEED to pack on all 6 sides of the box.....

So in the end I have 2 mini-zs for my self to play with I guess... and a audi body to crash the heck out of.... I guess it will do...

By the way, who is the guilty bastage that sent tower back a open Mini-Z with White Impreza body?

I had already asked from this sites shop...

So, it was because dave did not have the ready sets with the bodies I wanted, because they were the last ones with these bodies imported through normal chains, in USA, and tower had the last few... only reason why .

The First generation Skyline, the lancer, and the WRX, are all out of production bodies... the only ones you will find are just left over stock, although I have seen the older skyline in the new white boxes... so its possible they are retaining that body, cuz of the new racing paint scemes.

similar problems

i ordered my viper body from tower and received it in the same condition as your audi. i complained and they sent a replacement for free, didn't ask for first one back. big surprise, i got the replacement in the same condition as the first. again i complained and refused another replacement and was credited for the cost. i ended up taking the chance in ordering another body, this time my altezza. with the credit from the viper, it was cheap and it arrived safely. now i have two viper bodies and one altezza for less than half the price of the altezza body.
the month of waiting, complaining, waiting and complaining was not worth it though.

I agree... as much as I have ordered from them myself I have NEVER had a problem... I cant figure why they charge a $7.99 BASIC charge for shipping, but who knows... I still prefer the shop here myself, but I agree as well he doesnt have much stock anymore... man once he fills up his shop again... watch out!!!

i'm sure on the average, their service is good. i just seemed to have had a run of bad luck. i have since ordered small parts like set screws and such with no problems.

as soon as the shop has more stock, i will be purchasing somethings from mzr as well.

it seems t.o.w.e.r. picks on certain individuals......i have ordered many times from them. cars, boats, and planes including the 2 mini z's that i have( this was before i found this site). they were always very helpful and have never had a shipping error. in fact they replaced the first r/c plane i ever bought after it crashed and burned. a t.o.w.e.r. r/c trainer w/engine and radio combo. if the shop here doesnt have what you need, dont be afraid to give them a shot. they are a little expensive however.

I don't think they are expensive. They are cheaper than anywhere else on most products
