Ideas for sharpening turning radius for 02's

I'm running a mr02 enzo, GPM 8 degree rain radials all around. I've found this tire combination produces almost no spinouts, at any point. (My 15 degree slicks all around produce dozens of spin outs per race, Just a FYI). Now that my car never spins out, even on fast corners and a lot of power through the turns, I need to decrease my turning radius. I can see that there is plenty of room around the wheel/chasis/body to let the wheel move more, but the stearing internals don't let it move as much as it could. I've pulled everything apart down to the servo save and I think something in this area may help. The servo saver's arm that moves the steering rod may be extended I believe. This would allow for move travel of the stearing rod, and thus sharper cornering. The trick would be to fabricate the arm piece of the servo saver that is slightly longer, but will still hold the stearing rod correctly. The fabrication would not be easy, and it would be very nice if GPM or someone made a servo saver with a slightly longer arm. If anyone else has ideas that may work, (How to fabricate the arm or another way to decrease the turning radius) please post. I am running 1 degree toe-ins for stability in straights and this hurts turning just a little, but an mr01 owner continually beats everyone on the track with several 90 & 180 degree turns -- a bit of it due to the fact that his car corners in about a 1/3rd the radius, and at a good speed. With such a small track, and sharp corners, speed can't beat him, it's all about cornering.

Hey Brandon. It may have nothing to do with the turning radius, you may actually have too much rear traction now. Also, the longer wheelbase of the MR02 Enzo isn't helping you on our tight track, but what can I say? You beat me last week.

If you extended the steering rods, wouldn't the tires have to extend outward too? So in the end you'd still end up with basically the same turning radius.

Davkin, that may be right on. At the end of the night chad and I switched cars for a minute, even at low speeds, his car was turning a lot tighter, so traction may be part, but I'm not sure all of it.

I wouldn't be changing the steering rod, but the server saver arm that moves the steering rod. With a longer arm, the steering rod would move further to each side, thus making the wheels angle more than before. There is still enough room for the tires to turn 10-15 degrees more, giving me quite a bit sharper turning.

Oh, I must've read the post wrong then. I'm pretty new to mini-zs but that sounds like a good idea. If you can get it to work, can you put up a vid to compare the normal turning radius and improved? Also, would it traction roll more easily if you did that?

have you heard of steering knuckles with camber? this will increase your steering response by making your z turn sharper.... gpm has them in 1-3 degrees...
the higher degrees the sharper or faster the steering response... good luck

CASTER not camber..

Caster is the angle of the wheel relative to vertical line viewed from the side. Caster produces many effects, such as improving stability on straight going, avoid spins, etc. It also changes camber dynamically on steering. Increases steering response...

Have ordered four of the .5 caster with 1.5 degree camber....

The MM MR-02 handle much better with this system then EVER before!!!
(Smmmoooother and frees up the car from the center off of the turn)

correct...

however.... looking at your car from the front, camber is the angle produced between the front axle and the horizontal (if the front axle were straight)

having knuckles with camber will also increase steering response...

see pics comparing stock vs. gpm steering knuckles with 2 deg camber below
(the knuckles with camber will have the top of the tire nearer to the kingpin compared to the knuckles without camber)

i've seen that tagu product somewhere before but haven't tried it just yet...
