xspeed motor gearing

Is there a chart for xspeed motor gear ratio?I want to use it in my mr03 sport with a 64 pitch ball differential and not too sure what spur/pinion set up is possible without causing any problems to the stock fets, searched forum and found the pn motor chart but not sure about the xspeed motor turns.

For your use a 9, 10 or 11 tooth pinion with a 53 spur will give you all you want in a small area. Remember. An X-Speed is a speed motor not a torque motor so the larger the pinion the more load(read resistance and heat) you place on the electronics.

If memory serves correctly an X-Speed is either a 52 or 54 turn motor. Years ago PN came out with the Speedy 05 and 07 motors that were similar in turns and made to work with then 3004 fet's so with even the 3010 fets being used with the current electronics you should be good to go.

The diff I am using was in the asf mr03 (board problem one) with a 54 spur what pinions would match? I do have a spare 52 spur and 9 10 11 12 pinions

There's a gearing chart on pn/kenon site or you could Google images to find the chart. You'll find the compatible comparison to mleemor60 post.

Is the xspeed comparable to a pn 50t based on the chart ?,don't see any 52 or 54 t motors listed .

Yes but for any motor there is no perfect gearing. Start with something in the range of 9-11 and based on temps and speed gear up or down accordingly. Getting the right gear ratio is not a perfect science so don't think that you have to scour the interenet for the "correct" ratio as there is none. Even motors of the same turns and manufacturers need different ratios to work right as no motor is exactly identical.

No. Not comparable. The 50T is a good motor for stock based carpet racing and provides a little better torque than the 70T to overcome the additional resistance of the carpet surface. The X-speed is ageless. The Speedy series were good copies and were or could be screw mounted which opened the door to a wider variety of motor pods. If you can locate one you would be happy with the performance if you gear it properly. Assuming of course it hasn't been burned to the ground by over gearing it for speed. They would gum up easily and didn't like getting real hot.

As for the 52 spur, just run with it. The difference between 52 and 53 is marginal when used with a 10T pinion. With the 52 I wouldn't recommend going beyond a twelve tooth pinion instead of the eleven.

I just tried 54/9 for 30 minutes+ motor didn't even get warm, going to try 54/10 next. Thanks for the tips,so far I am liking the xspeed pretty quick but manageable and with the 64 pitch diff make a great combo.

I've run X-speed for years with the stockdiff at 7 and 8 pinion gears.
So a ratio of 6 to 5.25 should not be problem. On tracks with long straights we also used a 9 (ratio 4.6) pinion, but thats about the max I would try.
