A good old fashioned attaché case works pretty well until you start going overboard. I know a guy that carried everything he needed for a long road trip in a bunch of plastic grocery bags. His pit area was really something to behold.
If just a single car, a cheap 15" toolbox is great. Depending on the radio you have, it should all fit fine. If you have a couple cars, just up the size to 19" or 22". I have a box that holds 4 cars, 4 transmitters, 2 chargers, batteries and all the bits and parts one would typically carry around and it cost about $25. Tool boxes are cheap and at the end of the day, you still have a tool box which can be used for just about anything, even to carry tools

This made me laugh. Just the other day I was summoned to my folks place to do some real work with some real tools (drywalling), and it dawned on me that I had a toolbox that had real utility beyond hauling mini-Zs around I'd never looked at my Mini-Z hauler that way! It's funny how a hobby (obsession) colors your perceptions.
+1 With this advice though. A $25 plastic toolbox and 1-2 plastic tackle boxes/organizers for parts is a cheap solution for carrying and organizing Mini-Z stuff. If you spend a little more you can get a larger toolbox on wheels that looks a little like a suitcase with removable drawers and organizers. Several at our track use these. Some hardware stores and Amazon also sell knock-off pelican-type cases with foam liners that are nice for carrying cars and transmitters, but even the pelican knock-offs are a little pricey.
I would only concern myself with a padded case for an expensive transmitter like an EX-10, EX-6, etc. I bought a Pelican case just large enough and works great. Transmitter backs with cut foam can also be had but these are typically far over priced for what your getting. For the KT series transmitters, I chuck it in the box with the rest of the stuff. In 10+ years of hauling stuff around, I believe I've only broken one car and it was my fault for knocking over my larger stacking toolbox.
I am using a Dewalt box that has two sections to it. It was one of the guys at the track first case. It works well for me. Ask some of the guys at the track first and you will most likely get a great deal on one that has little use on it.
Check out a Plano 1374 4-By Rack System 3700 Size Tackle Box. Almost everyone in our club ends up with one of these.
You can order a blank/empty/no divider 3700 box that can fit 4 cars if they're not too tall. Or, what I do is remove two trays, get 2 or 3 of the PN car boxes and put my cars in those along the bottom, as well as my power strip and canned air, and still have two trays left for parts. I can fit an EX-1UR + two modules, a KT-18, KT-19 all in the top, wrapped in towels.
