Gyro assisted steering on a Brushless F1 Mini-Z

Here is a little experiment on the Mini-Z F1 with a gyro attached between the receiver and the steering servo. It allows the car to issue quick heading corrections specially on slippery surfaces where a differential drive train usually fails. As the rear wheels have the tendency to independently vary in speed on slippery surfaces, the car usually results to a tail spin at high throttle. The gyro can quickly detect that condition than the guy at the TX and can quickly issue a 'counter-steer' to maintain the heading.

Here is the effect on a slippery surface without the gyro assist;

And here is the car on the same slippery surface with the gyro assited steering;

Here is a quick test of the gyro as seen on the steering mechanism;

Here is the gyro as attached on the F1 Mini-Z

So you made that because...
a 2wd drive car not playing on track (grip surface) makes the tail spin like crazy, EVERYTIME you hit the trothle!

Can you explain the wiring? You have a transponder and a sensor, right?

I got an Mr01 mini,z and is impossible to drive it on normal floor from homes... just on carpet it got grip. I am thinking on doing a board swap of the mr03 to the mr01 and install the gyro Z. what do you think?

Why not try out an mr03 first? Out of the box it drives a whole lot better than the mr01.

Any driving at home (smooth hardwood floors, tiles etc.) you're bound to spin out... proper tires (softer compound) will help a little, but once they picked up dirt and dust its spin city all over again.

If you are bent on doing the swap, you will have to swap the servo motors as well… hope this helps…

Not going now for the mr03, first because it's 2wd and i play only on tiles floors... i changed for softer compound tires but it's the same (back spin)

I will try the swap mr03 board and for the gyroZ. If not, buy a AWD later. But for now try that one. I came from the xmod world of extreme mods!

And a xmod with a chilli/lithium/awd and 2,4ghz miniz PCB does not spin even a little on full thorttle on tiles floors.
ok thanks
