Daytona 1000 Lap Oval Race at Maj's RC

On Saturday Feb 13th 2010 Majs RC will host a Mini z Oval race to celebrate the Daytona 500. Qualifying will consist of 100 laps with 6 cars per qualifier (rolling starts). A-Mains will be 1000 laps with 8 cars in each main (staggered starts). B C D etc mains will be 500 laps with 8 cars in each main.

When: Feb 13th 2010
Where: Maj's RC in Saddle Brook NJ
Time: Doors open at 12pm racing starts at 3pm

Classes offered:
Mini z Stock Nascar
Mini z Mod Nascar
Mini z Open (run what ya brung)

Rules for each class are as follows:

Mini z Stock Nascar:
Motor: PN 70t or Kyosho box stock
Battery: 4 AAA
Chassis: Kyosho mini z
Body: Kyosho Mini z NASCAR
Tires/Rims: Mini z specific, Rubber only.
Wheelbase: 102mm
Other Class Notes: If the width of your car fits underneath the NASCAR body it is legal. Body mods must appear authentic. For example: rear spoiler or wing is legal, SIDE DAMS are illegal.

Mini z Mod Nascar:
Motor: Open
Battery: 4 AAA
Chassis: Kyosho mini z
Body: Kyosho Mini z NASCAR
Tires/Rims: Mini z specific, Rubber only.
Wheelbase: 102mm
Other Class Notes: If the width of your car fits underneath the NASCAR body it is legal. Body mods must appear authentic. For example: rear spoiler or wing is legal, SIDE DAMS are illegal.

Mini z Open:
Motor: Open
Battery: Open
Chassis: Any (kyosho mini z, pro-z, gsr, etc)
Body: Open
Tires/Rims: Mini z specific, Rubber only.
Wheelbase: Open
Other Class Notes: This is a class for drivers that don’t want to buy a Nascar body or chassis to fit within the Nascar rules. This is still a mini Z style class but you are allowed to run any body, wheelbase, or chassis you’d like. No side dams.

Other Notes: Pit stops will be allowed in the mains. There will be a certain area to pull off and on to do your pit stop. Drivers will exit the drivers stand by stepping down behind them, not in front, so that not to interfere with other drivers already on the track. If you feel the need to have someone pit for you (team work), you can do so as well.

My buddy is getting married this day Cant make it. Sounds like its gonna be real fun. Especially that third open class... I would think that would be the fastest one out of the three.

If you did 4.0 second laps each lap it will take 66 minutes to do 1000 laps. That sounds like a lot of fun. We have our HFAY race down here that day. Have fun guys.

Hey Guys, the oval is down as of midnight last night. A few guys ran on it so far. It is tricky for sure. Junior was faster and more consistent with his AWD then his 2wd, I believe Maj was faster with his AWD then his 2wd as well. I ran a bit with my 2wd and was right there as well. The track is a little bit slower then we expected, hotlap last night was 4.0 with a mod car. The 2 turns are VERRY different.

I would like a point out/remind people of a few things, being that we are going to be running constant for a much longer period of time then usual.

- Make sure your radio batteries are fully charged
- Charge as many battery packs as possible
- freshen up your motors and have newer brushes installed
- Figure out a fast yet strong way to keep your body on
- Practice your pitstops in the practice session
- Glue your tires on
- Have back up parts ready and accessible in your pit area
- Being that this is an oval, we have clearly marked the 4 turns. Get to know these numbers because the race director will be using these to call out cautions, carnage, pileups, etc.

Below is how the day is going to go:

-Doors open at 12 and track opens for open practice. If practice becomes too crazy, we will enforce 8 people on the track at once and each group will come and go in 4 minute intervals.
-Qualifying will start at 3pm sharp. Stock Nascar will be up first. Racers will form a line in the staging area near pitlane. 1 person at a time will have there turn to run a "HOTLAP". What ever your fastest lap is in 1 minute will count as your qualifying lap for the MAIN. The person with the fastest lap will get the POLE! Modified Nascar will be up next, followed by the OPEN class.
-Each Main will have 8 drivers per main.
-Each Main will have rolling starts lead by a MAJS HOBBY SHOP pace car. There is to be no bumping or passing the pacecar at anytime. The pace car will be driven very slow to keep the field tight, when you see the pace car pull off into pitlane, GET READY FOR THE HORN, when you hear the horn, the race will start.
-Race director will call out Cautions and will use turn #'s, this will help out in pileups and spinouts, you do NOT have to slow down, just use common sense when entering this area.

Plaques will be provided to the WINNER of each class A- main.

Any questions???
