Thumbs up UID F1 Display Chassis...

Finally have what I think some have been looking for up on my site. This is a long time coming and it really was a challenge to figure this thing out. I wish I had more time and energy to detail this thing a bit more but basically, it should hold an F1 body, wings, wheels and tires and kinda give the illusion of a working car.

I will not be ordering one of these myself because I'm currently devoting the shops tiny profits and whatever I can scrape together to my next prototyping projects for new race parts. But if one of my brave customers out there feels the need to test one out for me, feel free to let us all in on a review of some sort!

To me, it's a bit pricey but to a lover of F1 who has all of their Autoscales in boxes... it's probably an ok number. If the price is a bit too much of a hurdle, I can probably wittle out some more material.

The wheels will push on but the outer portion where the bearing is will require something like the false wheelnuts that come with an AutoScale (I know I have a good collection of these).

No fine print here, just the facts!
I am in no way, shape or form responsible for production or shipping or manufacturing quality of these products. All I can say is that it took 15 days to show up at my house after I ordered it and the quality is top-notch! Shapeways has an excellent record of part quality which is one of the major reasons I went with them for this stuff.

Looks good Ed, but one question, where do the batteries go?

No batteries as of yet Eugene, but I'm sure something will come along one day.

Thanks cowboysir! I'll be sweating it like a kid at his first dance until I hear back from you. I'm sure I covered everything but after a while of working something I can't help but be paranoid that I missed something, or forgot to adjust something. I gave it the fullest review I could with the time I had. About 3 hrs of spinning it around on my screen, fitting parts to it, checking dimensions, clearances, etc...

I just wanted to come back to the fitting issue, that was reported. This is how mine looks at the nose. For me more than okay. No issues during assembly.

I double, triple checked my models, measurements, existing chassis' I have downstairs and can't find any noticeable discrepancies. Either way, I still want to elongate the holes to compensate for any issues that may occur.

Computer goes back to the shop this weekend for a clean-up, praying that I get it back by next week sometime so I can start updating my stuff again.

I notice that the display chassis is listed as "not for sale" as well as a couple motor mounts in design...any updates? (I'm starting a couple F1 "one-offs" this week and would like to get something to display the ones I'm not running.

same here been wanting to order a few myself... wondering if there are versions for the new vs the old chassis... and if the newer versions includes the rim/wheel nuts... depending on pricing, i may be up for 4-5 chassis sets if they go up for sale

A shot computer with a complete lack of sales has relegated me to turning my attention to other things. That and all of the other busy bee summer stuff has me pretty crunched for time lately.

I still have an avenue to get some updates done but that has been slow going. I'm really wanting to get a "new" computer at home but that won't be for a little while. Should be up and running again by September.
