They are hard to find and expensive. Un-assembled Abarth 500 bodies are still somewhat easy to find and affordable.

Actually, most HM bodies are not too common.

By the way, the minimum wheelbase for the MM2 motor pod is 94 mm. It will not support the 90 mm wheelbase. There are a handful of aluminum HM motor pods out there, like this one from Eagle Racing (sorry about the image size):

I'd be down for a HM class!

My proposed rules for a 90mm high motor mount Abarth racing class. This is based on my current car i run.
Kyosho Mro3 non Sp chassis stock fets.. If you have an Sp chassis that's fine. Everything on my car is plastic all steel screws.
Kyosho stock ball diff/ stock steel shaft.
Kyosho carbon T plate.
Kyosho black springs.
Kyosho oil shock.
Kyosho ball bearings.
Kyosho 6 tooth pinion gear.
Kyosho plastic high motor mount.
Kyosho stock brushed motor.
Kyosho aluminum wheel nuts.
Kyosho Abarth body with stock rims, tires, narrow front and rears Kyosho 30's. Mine show little wear after 4 years of running.

Spec tire to race on. Kyosho Mini Z MZW2-30 High Grip Tire (30)
Everyone to use a Kyosho 6 tooth pinion gear.
Handout batteries Turnigy 900mAh aaa's. (I only have five sets at this time.)
I would like everyone to run an Abarth body.

Optional parts.
No aluminum Kyosho or other after market parts. Lets make this the cheapest racing class ever.
Any Kyosho front spring set you want.
Any Kyosho plastic rim set f/r narrow width, no spacing track width.

Racing rules:
Three 7 minute qualifying heats. A single 15 minute main reverse grid. The fastest drivers start in last position on the grid. Everything open for discussion Let me know what you think. After talking with Ryan earlier i will book my clubhouse for our next GTG Sunday, April 23rd.

Funny how the pic of the Eagle Racing motor pod shows the rear end tweaked out of shape.

Is anyone going to fault me for semi wide 30s on the car since that's all I have for 30s atm? Other than that I think I can reproduce grants spec exactly (parts may not make it in time for this gtg)

Please create a new Thread for this class.

Hey Guys, I'd suggest creating a new 90mm HM Mount Class thread.
This way the rules can be posted in it & and banter about it can be found easily.

GTG in Langley on Sunday, APR 9th!23rd

I apparently copy/pasted an event from a previous date & didn't see that note on the last GTG posting. This Sunday is the Vancouver Sun Run so I will not be able to attend.

Next Club GTG:

Sunday, Apr. 23rd

Layout is TBD.

This one will be held @ Grant's Place in Langley.

Deer Creek Estates
2315 198th St., Langley

>>Google Map<<

The best entrance to use is Gate #1

The Club House is at the back to the right of the pond.

Make use of any parking spot that's not a driveway. There are 3 spots near the clubhouse & another 6 near the entrance.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Track setup is @ 9am, Racing by 10-11am & break down for around 4-5pm.
Most people are showing up closer to 11 or 12, please try to come out earlier if you can to help setup. Grant is willing to run later if people will be there to help tear down.

*REMINDER* The fee for this GTG is:
$15 for the day
$10 for 4 hours or less
-$5 if you help Setup or Teardown. (Max. $5 back)
*PLEASE TRY TO BRING CORRECT CHANGE!*

Take our Cell #'s down and bring them with you in case there are any issues:
Grant: (604) 441-8817
Ryan F.: (778) 988-3425 *I won't be there for this GTG so try Grant 1st

Just an FYI. My wife will be running a Marathon in two weeks time on the 7th so if the next GTG is in two weeks I will be unable to attend that one.

I am free on the 14th, 21st & the 28th. I've verified that Dave. W. & the common room at his place is available for the 28th so that will be the next Racing League GTG date. Try to keep the 28th in mind when thinking of the next few GTG's in Langley.

Indeed a great day....once we actually got going.

I really shouldn't be the first to arrive from 2 hours away.

We should remember that layout as I think that was my favorite to date at grants.

Thanks again for the fun day guys

I was thinking the day was a bust until Derek arrived shortly after 10am. I new Steve was coming out but couldn't be here for 9am. Derek and i started building the track. Steve and Loyd arrived a bit later. Together a new layout was designed. I ran my Abarth all day and had great on track battles. Everyone's lap times on the day were impressive. I am going to talk with Ryan about making a 3 month Schedule in advance. This will give everyone plenty of notice for future meets. I think a group poll is needed to determine if Saturday is a better day than Sunday for our Gtg's. Thanks to everyone that attended. I can host May 6th or 7th in Langley. The clubhouse is being used here for a Mother's day breakfast Sunday, May 14th.

I would vote for the occasional Saturday if we planned to place then on F1 GP weekends so I can sit and relax watch the F1 race instead of early rise/speed watch/drive down to GTG

I will be unable to attend this date as I will be at the BMO Marathon in Vancouver cheering my wife on.
