i just voted "other"..
a friend of mine was looking for a new toys for his 2yr old son. we just happened to go into our LHS and came away with toys for ourselves (eek! i just called mini-zs a toy :P)
in the end he had to buy his son a really cheap r/c car just to keep his son's tiny fingers away from his cherished mini-z :P

i started R/Cing when i was 3 years old... i remember my parents buying me this big R/C car that was meant for kids.... Then after, my dad bought me this HUGE electric car that was also digital proportional and i had fun with that.... then a couple years later i stopped for a while cuz lack of money and time.... but i started again 2 years ago with cheap crap buckets and canned heats and made my way to mini-zs

My friend introduced me to it and I like to mod cars, so I got a 360 Modena I used to have some Nikko Hummer but it broke so I was looking for something new and my friend said he just got a Mini-z racer(I wasn't thrilled at first, but now ) he brought it over I drove, went crazy, and bought one.

Other: I had always wanted one since I first saw one at the LHS, but I couldn't shell out the $170 they were asking. So, I got into $20 Tyco canned heats instead and modded them for a year or two. Then, I had an extra $100 in my paypal account, and found a brand new readyset on an auction site, and the $100 covered shipping too

Other-
We're into racing slot cars, and sometimes while hunting car parts or track online we'd see R/C products.
We decided on Mini-Z F1s for our first cars because they're ready to race outta the box, all assembled and good-looking bodies.
As we've learned more about R/C cars, we've learned that the Mini-Z is a very high quality product.

My friend who didnt even have a mini-z at the time. He is more of a 1/10 1/12 type of guy. He has one now but he doesnt show much interest. I in turn got my lil bro interested who has surpassed me in knowledge of the mini and his actual mini-z will run circles around mine in overall performance and looks.
He in turn, has me thinking of a Tamiya M chassis 1/10 scale.

Hobbyist
I had been racing RC cars for a few years.
My 1/10 electric collection consisted mostly of Bolink, Associated and Schumacher 1/10's.
I also owned a few off-roaders like the Kyosho Optima Mid Custom Special, Kyosho Lazer, Yokomo YZ-10 and a Schumacher Cat.
When I got relocated to the U.K. space was a problem. The houses are small, like furnished dog kennels. I'd passed all my 1/10 stuff on to my 12 year old son who lives in South Africa with his mother. Oh, I yearned to own another RC car.
One weekend, my wife and I, (her being a newcomer to the UK) were in "tourist mode" and were up in the Lakes District, a touristy type place with lots of hick towns occupied by inbreds.
I saw a little hobby store and walked in. LOL! the first thing I grabbed was a Traxxas T-Maxx, some fuel, batteries and I was quite prepared to buy this. I was like a spoiled little kid, man I had that Traxxas box so tightly in my grip, the ink on the box smudged..
My wife had stumbled across some Mini-Z's and liked the detail. She showed me the box, I saw it was made by Kyosho and RTR, so the T-Maxx got put on pause.
That day I bought two Mini-Z's at £107 each
These are ideal for winter use in the UK, 'coz the houses are so small inside.
The second one went to my son in South Africa as a 12th birthday present.
Now I own two cars, one F1 and the second F1 should arrive this weekend, I bought it brand new on an on-line auction site.
I have also spent hundreds of Pounds on hop-ups, bodyshells, X-Speeds, wheels, stuff from Mini-ZRacer.com shop and even 4 motors from NML.
Therapy is needed...
Hello, my name is Raymond and I am a Mini-Z addict.... *applause*..
