Different chassis

This weekend I attended a race in Storfors Sweden. This was the first of a series of races in Sweden belonging to Miniracingbolagets Cup. There was two classes raced, stock and Open/Pro. The stock class is limited to a few hop-ups and X-speed like motors while the Open/Pro class is a merge with almost unlimited rules just as it's a 1:27 scale car with a 130 sized motor. InZane has written more on this in other threads.

And now to the topic about chassis and the chassis used in the Open/Pro class in specific.

There where a couple of MR-01's, some MR-02M with different amount of modifications (mostly hop-ups and new addons) and one Squat chassi.

The wheight of the total car was set to minimum 160 g, only the Squat challaging the lower mark while the others stayed clear. I do think that I was second lightest with 174g.

This narrow (60-80 cm) and unforgiving (sticky barriers) track was in big favor of the local drivers who managed to secure both first and second place with their MR-01's. In third the InZane Carbonkiller, a MR-02M chassi with homebuilt rear damper set. The Inzane Carbonkiller however smashed the Lap record, both official and the unofficial.

The Squat chassis didn't work at all with many flipovers with all the grip on the carpet track. I guess that the centered wheight made the car unstable.

Interesting to see what the different chassis performed when racing together and that not a single chassi outperformed another. We will see what happens in the next race February 15. I do guess that there will be some Pro-Z and the swedish Low-Z on the starting grid.

For some pics of the mentioned cars:

I normally race at LMRC www.lidingo-miniracing.se. But this race was held at Storfors, http://www.storfors.nu/mini-z

The most information is in Swedishg but I reckon that you'll find the pics (Bilder) or info about the track (Banan)

And almost all tracks in Sweden that has a lapcounting system uses Lap-Z, some smaller tracks may however have lazer systems. the Lap-Z is cheap only about 3000 SEK (375 USD) for the "brigde" and computer SW. The transponders goes at around 37 USD, cheap enough to have one in the racer and one in the F1, then you dont have to switch.

For more info of some tracks visit this website www.haggard.se/miniz or our swedish forum: http://www.shellkonto.nu/bobis/miniz/forum Take a look at the different "Klubbar/Banor i Sverige" there is often a "Var, När, HUr" in each sektion with info.

Regards
Marcus

The tri-pod shock setup is made by InZane here at the forums. I think he posted them in another thread. Do a search on InZane or Carbon Killer and I think that you'll find more info.

One thing thats missing from my chassi is the new damper from 3 racing, with that mounted my car behaves like the tripod seutup :-) Like a dream on carpet.

InZane has used Overland dampers, not sure if it was Kyosho or GPM though but you may well be right on the GPM.
