Rear Wing

Is there any way i could make good looking realistic wings for the mini z? I've tried lexan and it works, but i wish to make a more good looking one.

I saw a french/german site that boils plastic soda bottles and moulds them into bodies...could i use the same trick.

Any other ways to make a wing?

Z speed: I went to your site and it looks great! The f355 in the pic, where did you get that sweet looking wing. By the way, i'm gonna try to CNC my own rims...do you widen it outwards or inwards to make it 13mm? Thanks

Go to the PN racing site (cant remember the address off hand) and under the technology section there are some cool wings with instructions on how to make them

btw anyone got the link to the french site with the vac formed bodies?

turbo-ac:

I was just searching for mini z sites on google and I suddenly came upon that site. Sorry but I can't really remember what it was. What I remember is that they made bodies out of soda bottles. They made 1/12 pan car style bodies with it and it sorta looks silly at first coz they used a Sprite bottle so the body turned out green

Here is the link to the french site.

http://www.mini-zone.net/

You could use some translator to read it.

Thanks for the link! Just a little question...do i really have to make a special mould to make a wing or could i just shape it with anything i find in the house?

try using standard Balsa wood and carve out the shapes also most lhs (in the Uk anyway) stock thin aero foils for model aircraft they are usually made fron extruded aluminium and come in many sizes. you can then screw the support posts into the foil then chassis. Try making end plates out of either polycarbonate or aluminiuim. Ive planed this method but never tried it so it could be hit or miss but theoretically it should work and be the best and most aerodynamic wing around as you are actually using proper aero parts!!!! GOOD LUCK

k. here it is. it looks abit nicer up close, and im thinking of shaving the support arms so that they are less triangular, if you know what i mean.
oh ya. it was supposed to be a rear window spoiler, one that sat at the top edge of the window, but the antennae hole would be blocked, so i wont be putting it there. ill just move it a smudge down.

Hey thats awesome! I'm gonna try to make one of those on my own. Maybe I'll find pieces of plastic here at home and i'll bond the pieces using my soldering iron. Hmm...I also have some fiberglass here but its more than 1mm thick w/c is a bit too thick. I threw away my excess lexan just about a couple of months ago...darn

I used a styrene sheet that I found at my LHS. It can be heated and formed. It's great.

Here is a pic of one custom spoiler
