Cool Proud new Mini Z owner!

What have I gotten myself into?!?! Stumbled across a Mini Z on eBay and then found these forums!

These Mini Z's are sumthin!! Found this car used in a classifieds section - in pretty good condition except for the body. Also has a X-speed motor. All for $80, I couldn't go wrong.

Now all I have to do is replace the body and perhaps start dropping money on some hopups!

The tires are looking tired (no pun intended)..the rubber is a little cracked. Ah well..good enough excuse to get some nice rims right?

The alloy wheels and parts look mighty sweet!

My car is nothing special (yet)...but everyone enjoys the pics right?

Any sports car in yellow or red is a friend of mine.

Welcome to the brotherhood!!!!

Go ahead, start your shopping and keep going till you get it the way you want it. Search the forums for first hop-ups, but here are my choices:

Ball diff
Ball bearings, dry
Rear Monoshock
Remove the front sway bay and place your springs on the kingpins
1 degree toe in bar
Stiff O-plate
Softer rear tires
Racing is a state of mind....and I've lost it

Thanks for the suggestions...

Any brand of ball diff you can recommend? I've seen hop up packages on eBay that include a set of 7 ball bearings, a ball diff (blue alloy) and an alloy motor heat sink for a pretty good price.. are these a decent way to go or are those parts generally garbage? For instance:

Hop up package on eBay

At Tower Hobbies they sell a 8 piece ball bearing set and the description says the 8th is for the "optional ball diff." So if I get a ball diff am I in need of an 8th bearing?

Also, to mount a rear mono shock (the horizontal one I assume) do I need a special motor mount or will most mount to the OEM setup?

Thanks in advance.........

that body is actually in pretty good condition, apart from a few scuffs. At least you still have wing mirrors and spoilers.....

Most of the times you should get the 8th bearing WITH the ball diff.
I only know of TOPCAD and Kosho ball diffs.. both include the bearing.
TOPCAD is a cheap alternative but you should be prepared to do some work on it before it fits.

I've bought parts everywhere, but I always come back to the shop . GREAT service and FAIR prices.

I must have 4 different makes of ball diffs and they all work fine. No complaints.

Read up in the forums!!
