MR03 PCB swap?

Hi guys and gals, quick question on board swapping... have any of you who swapped an MR03 PCB into your MR02's noticed any significant improvement in servo speed over the original 02 PCB? I have heard that it increases the voltage going to the servo motor, hence better servo speed on the 02 chassis. I ask because I just read about this servo with some pretty wonderful specs:

Link: JR DS287MG

Judging on the specs and the servo's relatives (DS285/MG) I'm going to wager that this servo is geared for speed, which is exactly what I've been looking for all these years. If the 03 PCB can provide this servo with the voltage it needs to run, I think it might be the first commercial sub-micro servo to be able to replace the Mini-Z servo for real.

So, anybody have any impressions of the 02 -> 03 board swap? Maybe we've finally found the servo to complete the MRCG1.1...

PedroCamp has a new 03 board in for a FET job. He should be able to measure the voltage coming off to the servo if that would help.

To my knowledge, none of us at HSH have tried an 03 board in an 02, but many of us run 03 boards in our F1s. You may want to try Chad Nelson or DaveyG, both of whom have.

All my MR02 & MA010 have swapped out with MR03 FETed Boards.
Of course throttle & steering responses are much more linear & stronger.
Steering have to pump up the Curves in which I assume to compensate for a non-coreless servo motor. It is a really worth upgrades which mainly to get instant reverse which we all know well & Hated on 02ASF board.

BRIAN... idk if it provides more voltage... an imo it is not quicker nor does it provide more steering using an 03 in a 02 chassis!
02 w 02 board steering travel in the radio was set to 70 % w 68 % balance
02 w 03 board steering travel in the radio is set to 90 % w 87 % balance
from what i see it has a finer resolution.... like 16 bit to 32 bit....
steering the wheel slow it is smoother than my 03
02 board makes it notchy
i have been using 03 boards in my 02 since i broke the servo gear in my 03...lol and i will never go back!because of the advantage of REVERS!

Grant, i would agree with you 100% on all of this. Pretty much what i thought since i switched all my cars to 03 boards (02s, AWD, F-1).

Board sitting in but switch n servo motor can't fit

soldering old motor wires in to 03 board

Soldering the old switch to 03 board

It's in!!!!

oppps my drill bit was too big!!!!

My noob way of having 03 board on 02 mod
