Clear Chassis

I'm looking to do a chassis swap soon because my front clip mounts are stripped and the clip comes off from time to time. I've also wanted something a little different, since I kind of wanted to change the colors of the car besides the dull grey under chassis.

I've heard it rumored that the clear chassis are weaker?? I do a majority of my driving on carpet in my basement and most of my collisions are with the couches that sit down there. Would you guys suggest running a clear chassis?

I also see they have a dark black clear chassis with gold battery terminals...is there any advantage to this over the blue/green/clear chassis? I like the look of the clear black chassis. Anybody have any pics of a car with this chassis? Thanks guys!

I've had the clear chassis and the smoke chassis. Both are weak in the front area that holds the king pin. You should consider getting the PN MR-02 front kit or the JPL tower bar.

Cool...thanks for the reply byebye...

I wondered if the aftermarket tower bars were just for looks...

I'll look into getting one as soon as I get my DD and alloy rear mount from PN.

This is pic of the MR-02-MR-015 coversion. I have wide "0" degree offset wheels.

This one is with the JPL tower bar.

byebye is right. I run mostly the smoked chassis and when the arm breaks, i slap on a Pn bar on the top. There excellent.

The clear chassis are harder, that can make them snap instead of flex. But because it is harder, in my opinion it is better at holding screws. The last thing is do not overtighten the screws, as it will crack around the screws.

I have had my run in's with table legs, chairs, and other large items. The clear chassis hold up fine as long as you don't abuse the car too much.

I like the clear chassis as I can see whats going on inside the chassis without having to take it appart. Very helpful in the off chance that you have a jammed servo as an example. Also helpful to explain how these cars work to newbies.

Cool...thanks for the replies guys. Very helpful.

I'm going with a light blue colored clear one. It'll look good with the orange alloy parts...

1 question about the tower bars. Do they fit over the prexisting plastic tower on the chassis or do you have the cut/trim them off for it to work? I know lfisminiz said he puts it on after the arms break off...just wondering if you had to get rid of the plastic ones for this.

btw...byebye...those front tires are WIDE! The also look very low-profile...what kind are they?

You have to cut off the tower to use them. Then just screw them in over the top. The first pic is using the PN mr-02 to mr-015 narrow front kit. The wheels are wide rears. The tires are worn kyosho 20's.

@michvin-I've yet to get it a try. I'm really anxious though. I suppose I could take the time to head to the new track site. Problem is though I don't know the schedule of usage during the week. For the weekend though it's mine. I'll be sure to give a report.
