front suspension lowering

my mz has a lowered front suspension which has been done by putting a spacer over the kingpin(?) which essentially reduced the movement of the suspension.

i'm curious as to what u guys think of that method for lowering, and what stiffness springs should i use? i've tried both soft and hard and it doesnt seem to make much difference, altho i've left the hard springs in coz they are yellow and it looks trick :P

yup that's what i did. I put a spacer on the kingpin and the steering knuckle (spelling?) to lower it. I also use the hard springs so that i won't bottom out too often.... oh yea... if you're using the stock king pins, use a fine sandpapaper and sand the kinpins until they are smooth....

Lowered Cars

Hi guys,

Here's some Threads that focus on lowered suspension:

You'll see some pictures too

I used modified 2.0 mm Ø nylon washers to lower the front.
As for the rear, well I use 0.5mm/1.0mm/1.4mm and 1.8mm carbon fibre spacers cut to specification, not washers!

The lower centre of gravity does improve handling. On the CLK you cannot go any lower than 1.4 - 1.5mm up front, if you do, the front bumper makes contact with the track surface.

Also remember that putting spacers under the steering knuckles changes the front suspension setup, as the springs are 'compressed', resulting in stiffer suspension. I use soft front springs for this setup.

Although the rear is 0.4mm lower than the front, it doesn't look out of persepctive at all.. It just looks good

NOMOTORLIMITS has special washers for the front lowering of his CLK. (I have some on order from him) They are 0.1mm in thickness and are ideal for fine tuning the front suspension
