Anyone order from Hong Kong?
I'm ready to purchase my OL's. After looking at the available kits, I'm really liking the MB G55 AMG. I dont want to wait for the kits to be available in the states, so I was thinking about ordering it from Hong Kong. My question is, has anyone ordered from HK? Could you please share your experience and the company you bought it from. I found one on ebay from barryshop, has anyone ordered from this company? They have a feedback 0f 99.5 % positive. Thanks in advance.

I ordered a G'zox from *********** in hong kong. I took the 3 to 5 day delivery and got it in 5 days. The only complaints I have is the box looked like it had been opened. When I took out the car the clips that glue on to the body that hold it on the chassie fell off in my hand. I had to glue them back on. It must have took a hard hit in shipping or something. Other than that the everything was fine. I would order from them again.

I get most of my stuff from Hong Kong (eB@y) no offense miniz
and the stuff is amazingly fast to show up to my door step! I am talking 4-5 days tops! Never had any problems with the items either, everybody talks good enough english to answer questions and advice.
Don't be afraid, China is a far cry from being the backward country it used to be! and service takes a whole other meaning over there! People are always very courteous and ready to help.

I ordered my Street Pajero (which is now for sale because I need a new charger) direct from Japan. Everything arrived safe and sound, but that shipping really kills you.
I ordered from Japan for the same reason, I didn't wish to have to wait for the kit to come stateside.

i agree with mr. furious... i've asked the mini-z store (here) for stuff that wasn't posted and they said they could get it...
the other good thing it that if there is a problem, mini-z store more than stands behind the stuff they sell... in my experience...

Thanks dog! If you do the math, we usually end up competitive w/ overseas vendors as their shipping is artificially inflated so that they can show deceptively low "prices". In addition, they can't compare w/ our 2-3 day delivery times. And, most importantly - why not support the Forums!

That's a very big truth. Take din ball for example.
I wonder what do they believe, that we're stupid or what? Is as simple as checking the postage stamps or shipping slip, go to XE to check how much is that in HK dollars to realize they charged you at least 2x the real shipping cost.
That, plus the $5 "handling", plus the bank rate they charge for using VISA or PayPal, and the final price is not that great compared to other online places.
The sad truth is almost everyone inflates shipping costs, both from HK and USA. From ebay US sellers is even more funny, as you can check the exact cost on usps.com online calculator.

I have spent over $500 in this shop since last Sept. Quite frankly I am just as happy with the $500 I spent in HK. At risk of offending the shop I would like to say that I can never find anything here. I better quit before I get going. If you want the best deal and service on an overland see eBay.

Thanks for all the opinions. Whats does this mean d******?
I dont mind spending a few extra bucks on something I want, but I havent been able to find the G55 anywhere else. I've also left the shop 2 e-mails and havent heard from them yet, probally because of the weekend. I'll wait till Monday to do the ordering. Thanks again for all the responses.

if you're looking for mini z products and live in new york city go and see tommy at hks hobbies on canal st. for a few dollars more than the web he'll help you set up your racer, give you driving tips, and tell you which hop ups are a waste of money. he also has a pipe line to hk and has things i haven't seen on other us sites or hobby shops. last night he really went out of his way and hung out after the evening races were over to help me out with my car set-up. if you do go to the shop and see the great track they have there you may decide to walk out of there with a racer instead of an ol though.

hrehowsik, I understand they must charge something in addition to the actual shipping. that's what $5 is supposed to be, and probably the percentage for paying with VISA ($8 for a $360 order). But to charge $38 in shipping when it really doesn't reach $18 isn't justifiable by those means. and remember, it's a box that gets packed in a matter of seconds, not something that needs careful packaging.
The original fact still remains: they have those prices because they add up the difference later, and end up being exactly the same (sometimes even more) than other shops.
They have a clear advantage over most however, and it's they have the most complete inventory I know about.
