Monster Energy GL Racing Audi R8 LMS

Monster Energy GL Racing Audi R8 LMS

Materials:
GL Racing Audi R8 LMS unpainted autoscale
Krylon Fusion Satin Black
Krylon Fusion Gloss Jungle Green
Rustoluem Bright Coat Chrome
Tamiya Light Green
Tamiya Chrome Silver
Tamiya Red
Tamiya Clear Yellow
Future Floor Polish
Pattos LamboAventador-Monster-2016

This is another custom livery based on a discussion with a friend regarding desired sponsor livery on a desired body that does not exist in real life. I have some a version of this on Gran Turismo however color distribution and decals are changed to suite my interpretation.
Part of the discussion simply revolved around what contrasting colors would look really nice and in part where, is best to use the accent color. FOr this livery, there are accent stripes and horizontal surfaces/lines as well as the bottom surfaces of splitters. I added the accents to the grille and headlamp eyebrows just to break up what would otherwise be a very blank slate front end.
I did shave down the front canards to about 1mm in depth so they are still present but not likely to be as grabby to walls.
The utterly clear glass on this GL Racing kit needed trim lines around the glass and on the back glass. It's a bit tricky getting tight lines on clear plastic without cutting the plastic and worse, paint bleeds. Lesson learned, I over-sized the trim lines so they would be visible once installed. I should have gone a bit taller on the top and bottom of the front glass.
The decals for this one are sparse. The decal sheet I selected gave the right logos's but was short on sponsor decals that would be appropriate to the Audi R8.
The most frightening part of all was msking off the thin green accent lines on the very segmented rear end of this R8. If you can pull it off, it looks fantastic.
All in all, love the color combination and happy to see this one go to another friend that will put it out on the track.

This is the first thing I noticed when looking at the car. First thought, that looks tight! Second thought, boy.....that would be a pain.

I like Monster colors. They look great! You did a nice job on this car Ray, I like it!

Your masking is really good. Did you paint that whole back end black, and then do green on top, or did you do green first?
