Current class & rules 2005

I'm new to the mini z scene. I'll be at the track for the next race with my 10 yr old son who will racing for his first time. We will be running the box stock class. So far I've heard that the one change thats being allowed is the tires. What tires are everyone going with? I noticed last week that there was a cup car class. Which is a F1 converted, right ? I'm kind of interested in the F1 cars. Has there ever been a F1 class a TT? Thats all for now.

Thanks

BigRon, It's great to hear that you and your son (LittleRon??) are going to be racing with us. I know you will feel welcome. We have a fantastic group of racers.

We have both a Production class and a Stock class. Production is any 01 or 02 or F1 with no modifications other than wheels and/or tires. This is also the ONLY class that we regulate the drivers who are eligable. We try and keep this class for the beginning racer. Stock class is any 01 or 02 Mini-Z. Other than changing wheels/tires you can also add a ball diff, ball bearings, and carbon "H" plates.

We had a very active F1 class until the Cup cars debuted. Most racers converted their F1s to Cup. Since it a relativly simple process to convert back and forth between the two we are going to try and alternate. This is still in the planning stages.

We are looking forward to seeing you at the track.

Can't wait. Currently racing is every other wednesday. Is that the regular schedule or does it pick up in the summer? Will there be another point series this year. I've been reading post of the activities that happen last year.

Although some want to race every day (ME) the every other week format has been working very well. That gives us time for our slot races and special events for both types of racing. In fact we will have a 2 hour enduro in the next few weeks. With the addition of our RCP oval we may add another day to the schedule. Our Weds. races are part of continuing "best 6 of 8" (may change to "best 5 of 7") race series. Our next scheduled race , March 9, is race #3 of the Winter Series. Trophy presentation for the Winter Series will be the same night as Race #1 of the Spring Series.

Hey Bigron, just caught your post while browz'n. I usually get over to the shop between 12 and 1pm to set up the track. Most racers show up after 4pm to practice. Call Mike to see if you can practice sooner, I'm usually done by 2pm. Don't forget to ask Mike to email the track design software if you want to submit a layout.
