As title states, my antenna wire broke off my mr02 asf. Do I need to reattach it? If I do, what is the best method? The wire broke clean off and I have the whole wire still.
Happened to me once. You can solder it back on if you have moderate soldering skills... If you're not too comfortable soldering, ask someone to do it for you.
Thanks for the reply. Tried using it last night without the antenna and as expected range got severely decreased to around 18 feet. Soldered the wire back on and all is well. I ended up taping the tire to the top of the chassis plate to prevent it from breaking off again. Thanks for reply.
if you can, best to remove the broken strands for a cleaner solder joint. Not a big deal is you can't. I just had the same thing happen to me this past weekend and just stripped the jacket back and soldered it right back on but couldn't be picky about it as the iron tip was junk.
reflex racing was the only ones i recall that sold replacement antenna wire.
Yeah i just pulled the insulation back by just a little bit. I have read some where that the antenna wire is not actually a simple wire but a strand of coaxial wire.
off topic: is the mini z scene dying down? this is the most active forum on the net but not a lot of new topics have been made or updated. makes me sad with not much newer material to read =(
no, not dead, just a niche hobby that contracted as many did during the great recession and finally bouncing back actually.
thing to remember with forums, maybe 10% actually participate. the rest just lurk. given most spend time on various things like twitter, pinterest, snapchat, instagram, ,social media youtube feeds the 'old time' message boards just aren't as popular as they once were. what can you do.

I take off all the original asf antenna board and used the pn silicon wire for brushless motors and resolder onto the boards . It's much more flexible and doesn't break off as easily as the kyosho wire . Just make sure u cut the wire about the same length as the original antenna wire . That's what I was told from
Some engineers since it's a digital signal needs to be the same length. I haven't tested it out at different lengths though

I guess this throws that coaxial wire statement out the window
