Ferrari 458 Italia GT2

i know the body hasn't been released yet, but from what i read at kyoshosan, people at kyosho says they will handle better than the audi R8. knowing how good an audi in eating corners up, i can't think what will this italian car will do to our track now.

here's the link to the original blog post.

Well they kind of need to say something like that don't they? 'Hey this is a piece of junk that handles like a brick' will kind of only sell to people who really want to drive a 458. Of course Kyosho could try to turn this into an arms race - going out of their way to ensure that at least a few of the new bodies each year are better than previous releases - keep sales to hardcore racers ticking over.....

just gonna get your hands on one and do it justice.
Comapre weight, weight distro vs R8 as R8 is already a very light ASC.

that was my first reaction to the 458. trying to cut a close line is going to snag one of those bloomers and hook you into the rail or bump your back end out. i think your going to see some of that sanded or cut down unless its shown to just glance off.

helps to look from more of a side angle. image from Mini-Z & dNaNo News flash!! and re posted on kyoshosan

Allright.
The 458 are 3 offset rear and 2 offset front from the box.

Typical R8 offsets works fine. Here its pictured with 2,9 offset front and 3,4 offset rear.

No problems with tire rubbing.

Weight.
The red one weighs 37,1 gram.
The Yellow one weighs 39 gram.
The windshield weighs 8,1 gram.
The rear bumper are screwed on, and weighs 4,5 gram.

Since there are no lexan window available so far, I went trough all the different lexan windows I had lying around, and found that the R8 window fits good enough for track testing.

Final weight with lexan window and rear bumper are 33,2 gram.

Should be easy without much problems getting it down to around 29 grams. The whitebody even lighter.

It has been a long time since I have had an Autoscale (only whitebodys here), but the finish looks very nice (only had to adjust bodyclips on the left side on both, and the wing on the red one are slightly skewed).

Handles very well.
I used the exact same setup as with the R8, all down do the body clip.

A tad more turn-in than the R8, but no so blindingly quick with fast direction changes as the R8.

All in all, after two 8 min stints with both bodies, they were 0,02 seconds apart with best time. Mean time were also almost identical.

Must do some more testing before I really will consider this as a race body, but so far it looks extremely good.

I added a Reflex Racing wing to get the rear more planted, and it worked well as usual.
