Very nice cars....are those foam tyres? You are running them on carpet track?

I believe that if bought as a kit, the mrx comes with foam tires. Alternatively, Xpower also sells foam tires separately.

RCPHK the home track of xpower and the mrx in hk exclusively runs foams only on a rcp track. I've seen them run on the track and they're pretty fast, I was told that they (foams) last much longer than rubber tires.

Where we run in NJ we run on carpet and they don't last that long. They last maybe one race night.

Rear foam tires probably two race nights.but with the front tires we glue the front side wall and you may get one night out of them.don't forget we cut the tires on the tire tour.we have a pretty fast group of racers.they always find the edge to go faster.but the x power foams are the best

Maybe carpet track is more abrasive than rcp? Guys at the RCPHK track mention that foams last a whole lot longer than rubber tires, and run more consistent compared to rubber.

yes they are definitely more consistent but are they using traction compound. We run traction compound and the grip levels are pretty high so that could also be a factor. I think that the carpet is less abrasive but we run a mod class with lipos so the tires take a beating. Different groups have different levels of useable tire wear. While they could probably last much longer, at the level of competition it is almost necceasry to have a new set for each race some racers use multiple sets if they have the wallet for it

I doubt they are using any traction compound as I believe it will ruin their rcp track... Here's an article on their track ---> RCPHK

Will see if I can post some vids... I believe one of the reasons they put up their own track was that the 2 existing tracks in Hong Kong didn't allow the use of foam tires...

The Next X Power Wave!

Can you imagine what a "Palm" sized touring car look like? It is going to have majority of the unique features of an ordinary 1/10 touring car including:

1. "Belt" transmission system
2. Four wheels drive
3. Carbon plates chassis
4. Four independent damper suspension
5. Easily adjustable camber,
toe in/out and all other fine tuning features
6. Lipo powered
7. Use of Lexan shell

The most important thing is we are going to make it compatible to existing Mini-z ASF radio control system with customised designed Electronic Speed Controller, Servo and Receiver. Of course, you can use your own favourable brand radio control system if you wish. The ultimate objective of us is to let you playing this "Palm" sized touring car as if you were playing your 1/10 one.

Stay close to X-Power, more news will be released soon.

That's all well and good but the trick is to make it affordable. I don't see how you can make it any more than a unique niche car if it's retail is in the $700 range. I love micro scale (like everyone on this site) but I really don't think it's a feasible project if it's not affordable....

Edit:
I know I'm likely being premature in putting some imaginary price tag on this but viewing the history of X-Power gives me an expectation of the cost.

I was interested in this chassis when it was first released but the second I realized that you had to essentially "halve" an MR03, I lost interest.

Many carbon chassis have come and go throughout the years and this one is probably the best because it utilizes one of the major features of a Mini-Z... the steering and front suspension system. Other than that, IMO... it's an old school Pro Z.

As far as belt drives go... every shaft drive touring car I have ever owned was way more efficient than it's belt drive counterpart. They also ran much truer and straighter. Don't believe me, go and compare yourself.

If Kyosho ever centralizes the drivetrain on their AWD chassis with a brushless motor, and integrates a snap-in Lipo saddle pack into a new design... that'll be about as advanced as one can get. The AMZ was a huge step but from what I have seen and heard, the quality issues keep many of them in the box until the real racing is done.

If everyone in my club was running the same chassis and pushing for the win everytime they got on the track I would probably be singing a different tune but realistically the dollar factor would more than likely keep me out of it.

Nice to have options on what kind of car you want but....
I have yet to see a carbon chassis car beeing faster than a regular well buildt MR-03.
Also the extreme guys I race with have tried and tried but always find the MR-03 much faster and consistent.

Anyone ever seen a MRX or AMZ beeing quicker around a RCP track than a 03?

how are you buddy I can tell you by far I've only raced 2 times on RCP with my MRX car. and done very well with it.I normally race on carpet.I really don't know what you using in your 03 (motor).or who you saw race there MRX car at. An MRX car will blow out a MR-03 even with a 32 turn motor.you gotta remember this car runs off the lipo that is 7.4 to your 4.8 nickel metal batteries.I don't even bring out my 03 out anymore.the new technology is coming out for mini Z's the same way did 1/10 and 1/12 scale cars.and as for the AMZ car.I like that car better than my X power car. I guess it really comes down to how good the driver is on set up the car.
