The quick answer is to get an RWD MR03... the sports are not really recommended. The McLaren GTR that is available for $139 at many outlets would be my recommendation. Add a set of bearings which are easily found around $10 and you have the same chassis as the $180 one.

Do you have other RC cars? Are you planning to race competitively? Would you be updating the transmitter down the road?

My opinion is that the ASF brushed cars are the best brushed cars. The issue is that they have been discontinued for some time, so you would need to find the car or swap the electronics on a sports or RWD. Then you would also need to get a transmitter. This could get pricey and time consuming if you don't have much RC experience.

This brings us back to the short answer, of the RWD being the model to get with a bearing set and tires.

The newest MR03 RWD has already bearings inside!

I think the package nowadays is really okay, in EU 165Eur for a RTR with bearings is not cheap but ok.

The White McLaren GTR RWD model does not include bearings, but costs $40 less. Which is why that gets my recommendation.

I would avoid sports. The steering and throttle resolution is lower than the RWD.

Yes, the one labeled MR03 RWD, if it is the McLaren GTR, a bearing set with it. The others come with bearings.

What surface are you driving on? Might want to get tires as well regardless which model you get. Kyosho 20 radials wide for rear and 30 slick front work well on most surfaces.

To add to the confusion... there's a mr03 sports... and a mr03 sports 2...
The latest offering is the mr03 rwd.... which is what emu is suggesting...

Totally agree with the asf mr03 being the best of the bunch...

Kyosho is coming out with a newer version that will have a plug in receiver to allow you to use kyosho, ko, futaba and sanwa radios....

Here's the link... click me

Here's the pic... the mr03 rwd comes ready to run... just buy batteries... you will have to buy a radio and the plug in receiver for the newer mr03 evo.

Tires, T-plate, and disc damper would make the largest difference. What surface will you be driving on, and will you be racing competitively?

Would this be Cruizin?

In general, I would start with a PN #4 FRP/G10 fiber glass. If you go to Cruizin, the medium or hard Atomic Fiber would be good to start with. You could also try a medium silver SSG carbon. or Soft Kyosho carbon.
