Pretty nice looking car. I think you should keep it in good condition as that is kind of a classic now.

Welcome. I loved my own 01s, still have them. Introduced me to a whole new scale of fun. I have the older black Warstiener Benz. The 01s were bad about breaking servo gears since they had no servo saver. The later cars like the 015 (similar to the 01), 02 and 03 have servo savers and are more durable. If you run narrow offset wheels in the front of the Benz you might get the gears to live but if you plan to race I would move up to the later chassis. There are usually deals here in the marketplace .

Thanks for the welcome

This one will be just for fun and not racing , if I get into doing this then I will get a newer mini z . I have seen some metal gears for the servo , are they any good ?

I will probably just get a few upgrades if and when I can find then on the net

Some were good, some not so good. I tried some GPM's I think that were notchy. The PN delrin are good, they are available.

welcome to the forums...
as mentioned earlier... mr01's don't have any servo savers... thus they are prone to servo gear damage...

delrin is cheap... order a couple of extras just in case it breaks...
if you have metal gears, it'll be bulletproof... well almost that is...

good luck

That is a rare body. Looks to be in pretty good shape too. You can probably sell that on ebay and with the money buy a new body. Still kicking myself for not getting one couple years ago.

I would trade you a complete MR02 chassis with the servo saver and a newer AMG body for your car.

Heck of a deal there!

You really only need the first servo gear to be metal, I rarely broke the second or third. GPM always seemed to have the smoothest metal gears for the 01 servo. Just be careful running the screws in and out of that white servo case... they strip out easily and once that happens you might have a tough time finding a replacement.

having mentioned that "This one will be just for fun and not racing" i guess delrin gears will be ok... where do you plan on running it? based on that, other stuff you might consider... tires (from the picture, they look kinda worn down a bit), bearings and probably a carbon fiber h plate...

i agree with imxlr8ed when he mentioned that only the first servo gear needs to be metal... i've only tried gpm metal gears and they do a great job... can't say too much about the rest (don't know who else makes metal servo gears for the mini-z... anybody?)

you car looks pretty mint... soak it in a tub with mild soap for a couple of minutes, rinse it off and dab it off with a soft tissue... and i'm pretty sure it'll look almost new...

you might want to keep it mint since that body is becoming quite rare... you can always purchase a cheap second hand body cheap... and might want to consider doing that instead...

if you're not too attached to it, you might want to look into benmlee's offer to trade...
an mr02 chassis with a newer amg body... just something to think about...

hope this helps...

Am sorry but this one is not for sale . The plan is to get it working and get a different body so I can keep this one good, and maybe a display case to keep the dust off

What body will fit on my 01 ?

Thanks for all the reply , it's all good info

Will I be able to fit an uprated motor to this 01 or is there something else I would need to do first ?

hmm... good decision... keep the body mint... and save the rims...
any mr015 body will fit the mr01 chassis... some mr02 bodies may fit, but you will have to have the correct offset in the rims... what body do you plan on running?

there are probably a number of motors that you can run stock with the mr01... to stay on the safe side... kyosho stock, kyosho x-speed, atomic stock, pn stock... maybe others can give their experiences with the atomic / pn stock motors...

good luck and keep us updated...
