Shotgun LIT

Faster than the LIT Xspeed, 5 grams lighter then the stock motor w/box, much longer run times.

But there is a price to pay for the speed and runtime; deceleration when you let off the throttle due to motor drag is litterly cut in half so the car tends to roll on instead of stopping quickly. It takes a bit getting use to but once you do it can have some advantages since its much easier to coast into a turn.

Needs to be polished, anodized, and dyed but overall I like the looks and am very happy with the performance.

Just in case anyone is curious about the tires in the second photo, the rear are from an Epoch and the front slicks are from a SuperSlick tire kit. Have been experimenting with different tire combinations, just like the stock Racer, AWD, and F1 tires the stock LIT tires are not great on RCP track. This combination helps some but looks funny with the body on.

Well, there are dual motors on this so I guess they are comparing it to a dual barrel shotgun?

“Shotgun” refers to the motor mount that I make for the Epoch,

and “LIT” refers to the Mini-Z LIT (ML-010) so “Shotgun LIT” is referring to the motor mount in the photos made to fit a Mini-Z LIT.

Had to call them something, and it sort of fits, lol you might want to ask someone who has or has played with one of the Shotgun modified turbo Epochs what they think it means.

LBRC,

Did you anodize those parts yourself? Or your local anodize shop? I love that purple!

I do them myself.

Homemade miniature hard anodizing station

• Rinse Sink
• 1 gallon Deox/Desmut tank
• Modified battery charger for variable voltage 40 watt power supply, connected to a timer and gages measuring current and voltage to the 3 gallon Acid Tank for hard anodizing.
• 140 degree Dye tanks
• 180 degree low temp sealant tank (high temp crock pot)
• I also use a variety of mason jars inside water filled Rival Hot-Pots to heat small quantizes of dye and sealant for small jobs like individual parts. Also used for high temp sealants.
• Acid nuterlizing and eyewash station/supplies.

Am still learning and practicing.

WOW - outstanding design and colors ! I'd also vote for the purple design. The standard blue of ATM and friends is so boring.

Cheers,

Jo

Not sure what Kyosho has in mind, am assuming something because of the screw holes on top of the motor mount and the single post on the chassis.

I have a couple of ideas that I plan on trying out which is why there is a screw hole on top of the motor mount.

The first is a conventional disc damper, was thinking about machining either an all aluminum plate that attaches to the top of the chassis or an aluminum mounting piece that different length CF plates for different chassis screws into. Either way the advantage is that with the shotgun it still sits below the chassis height.

The second is not for the conventional minded, but may actually work better. From my Epoch experiments I am coming to realize that just like what works best for a 1/10th scale car isn’t necessarily best for a 1/28 scale Mini-Z, smaller 4” long cars will need slightly different less rigid options. I've always liked foam dampers so imagine that instead of the red spring in the photo it had a longer screw and simple foam ear plug with a hole drilled in the center, and the carbon fiber plate screwed to the top of the LIT chassis.

The left is a Mini-Z LIT motor box the right and Epoch, both use Mabuchi square can motors.

Hello LBRC. Have you thought about useing the new Micro-T's differential in the Lit? I noticed it's about the same size I believe. I have seen the T's differential up close at the hobby store when looking for spare parts, and it is amazingly tiny. I bet with some mods it will work wonders on the Lit and perhaps Epoch.
