Help with questionable batteries

I bought a box of twelve sets of peak racing 900mah batteries from a LHS a month ago. This morning I took a volt meter to them to see what the voltage is. Twelve cells out of the entire box literally showed no voltage with my meter. I put them in my maha to see if it would charge them and it did. I was thinking of doing the break in mode on my maha with them and then cycle them a few times to see if they recover. On top of that the rest of the batteries would barely register on the volt meter. One battery had 0.9 volts. Any suggestions on what to do? Should I try to take them back or revive them?

The 0.9 volt test...was that from package open? It seems to me that is discharged voltage so it could be fine after a break in program.

As for the 0 volt cells I'd try to cycle them. You could talk to your LHS about replacement but I'd see if they can get anywhere before discussing it with them

Yes, I took those readings of the batteries straight out of the package. I haven't charged them yet. I'm still looking for a way to set up my team checkpoint charger to do resistance on individual cells for matching. I put the cells that were reading 0 and put them in the maha to see if the charger would recognize them and it did. So that shows their might be hope for them.
I am thinking the same thing about cycling them a couple times before I match them. I think they been setting on the self for atleast a half a year or so. I'm pretty sure I'm screwed as far as taking the batteries back. So hopefully I can revive them and get some life out of them.

Definitely worth the 36 hours it takes to do the break in this will tell you just how good "new" cells are that have been sat in a shop forever

Update on battery life

The batteries recovered nicely. But now they are showing signs of fading away. Since I bought them, five cells will not take or hold a charge. Peak racing 900's in my opinion are worth every penny I paid for them.

I've been running the Peak 900's for some time now. I have also had a few bad cells but for the most part they are very good. Like all batteries they will fade as they get used.

what I have noticed is that some of the guys don't mind or even care that they are giving up some speed with the faded batteries. O lot of our guys don't like freshly charged high punch batteries as it make it harder to control the car.

I on the other hand can feel the difference and will cycle that set into my backup batteries as I don't like to give up that speed. I don't like the faded feeling on the batteries and notice it right away when I they don't have the pop to them.
