Question Stickiest Rear Tires for RCP track

What's up Atomic!

Unfortunately, I dont have that much experience with atomic tires. Shoot, the last and only atm tires I've use was the handout tires in 2008 Atomic West Coast Challenge race which didn't really have much traction. Anyhow, I know the tire to get when racing on carpet is ATM but what about RCP? I want to get more out of my $. I dont true my tires (front or rear), I also dont glue them. Just slap n go... Do you have a tire combo that works very well (should be able to compete with other companies) on RCP for at least 70 turn motor? If so, send it to me. You can find me here or site below.

Hey

I have been using the AR14* tires for 2 years now. 20° in the rear, 30° in front.
The AR257* also work pretty good, but I never got the balance front/rear as good as the other ones.

1 important issue, I run on the smooth side of the track. They dont seem to work as well on the rough side.

Kyosho High Grip 20's are the stickiest I've used. Not my favorite though. I run PN Radial 6's rear and ATM Slick R 40s front on my MR-02s and MAs. If I need more traction in front I use ATM Grooved 40s. The 40's last a long time and grip the wheel good w/o glue.

I have tested AR-244-W08 (ATM 8 deg. RCP rear tires) on at least 5 different local tracks. I can tell you that if the 6 degree Radial tires work on the RCP track then these ATM 8 RCP tires will work. I just ran them in Modified Racing class last night on RCP and they work great. However, RCP is inconsistent I was not able to use these tires on some older RCP tracks or tracks where silicone based tires have been extensively used.

AR-244-W08 characteristics can be summarized as follows:

-slightly narrower than the similar 6 degree Radial tires offered by the other manufacturer

-slightly lower profile for lower CG in the back

-they can handle modified motor

-they fit tight can be left un-glued or un-taped although not recommended

-one to two laps of warm-up is recommended for optimal performance.

-tire combo choice for each RCP is different due to the nature of the track material and what tires have been extensively used before on the track. Ask the locals.

Congratulations to forum member -- Themelis Factor a.k.a. Johnny who TQ'd/won and broke the world record in Pan Car Mod this past weekend at the NJ Regional race using ATM 8 RCP rear tires. His times and pace were unreal; if not for the few accidents he would've finished with 61 laps. The ATM 8 rear tires handled Johnny's own ultra powerful matched cells and modified motor with ease. The AR-244-W08 also worked well for all who tried them this weekend. Thanks to all who ran the tires at the race.

I would like to thank Philip,Grant,and Bill from PN Racing for all their help. If it wasnt for Grant taking the time out of his day to sit down with me and explain to me the ins and outs of a mini z, I wouldnt have broken the record or win the PN Regionals in Pan car. He explained in detail about off-sets on rims, Tri-shock systems,dampening and the new PN AA-Arm front end. He has brought my driving style and set-up knowledge to the next level. Now i will try to pass on to up and coming racers the knowledge that these two gentlemen passed on to me. Once again I thank you for your help and maybe one day you will consider me as a PN Team Driver.

Good information John. BTW, I was inspired by Johnny on how he cut his front tires this past weekend; I wouldn't have ended up in the A-main if I didn't know how much to cut my front tires. Racers helping racers; this is what this community is all about.

In conclusion, stickiest or best performing rear RCP tires depend on a number of factors: age/condition of RCP; what kind of tires have been extensively used on the track(rubber/silicone) and whether traction compound or WD-40 have been used in the past, etc...... Remember to ask the track owner and local fast guys.

For RCP racing, give the inexpensive Atomic AR-244-W08 rear tires a try before tinkering with $$$$$$ suspension hop-ups. You may end up saving a lot of money and tuning headache.

you can solve the problem of having to do laps to warm up the tires by switching to PN 6 deg radials for the rear. put them on and away you go !!!!!!

I have tried the AR-244-W08, and I really like them.
Tire life is exellent, and also the grip is very consistent. They grip very good even when completely worned down.
As for warm up. They did not behave very different from other brands. Give them a lap or two, and they are good to go.

This is a track where only Kyosho and PN tires have been used before.

I ran my Atomic tires like this and it still grips very well in 2WD MOD class. It still has life left too.

what front tires are u using in combination with this rear tires ?
i hope non-silicone........on our track isnīt allowed to drive silicone.
