Whatshisname at LHS told me there were reliability issues with the Mini Quake.

Just reliability, IIRC. That was a couple weeks ago when I was looking at a Mini T and a MZ Monster.

Hey Ninja, 'bout that Mini Quake; did you buy it with servo and ESC? I've read a lil 'bout 'em and they look tough enough for me. I'd like to check that sucker out.

yes it comes completely Ready to Run. even has batteries and charger for the pack. for the same cost as a Kyosho Mini Z Monster and it is actually 4WD. if you want to meet up somewhere tomorrow evening or Sunday I could let you check it out

it is 1:18 scale. and very quick, if you go reverse and hit the throttle it will flip completely over. i love this thing, it climbs really well. the battery pack is a little lacking though as it is only 600 Mah it doesnt last very long, and gets pretty warm. but i can always remedy that it was $185 + tax. tower has them for $179, but i wasnt about to bother over $5.
*edit* about the speed, it is as fast as my stock TC3
