I just bought a mini giant for my son 5 days ago. He got bored with it going so slow, so we upgraded to the fireball 370 and hex-7 battery pack. After install of those parts we ran it and all of a sudden it started smoking. Right away i turn it off and took it apart. When i took the cover off, i saw that all the wires were melted. What the hell happen.
Could it be a defected motor or battery. There is no way i could have hooked up the motor or battery wrong. It only goes one way.
Does venom have a warranty on these or what?
Can so one help me figure out what happen!

Your best bet is to get a hold of Venom, or the place you bought it from and go from there.
With luck, maybe your batteries just shorted out and not your electronics

Both with too many mods to fit in this sig.

Caution: If you are installing this motor in the Venom Mini Giant, we highly suggest installing the VMG bearing set. Failure to do so may result in damage to the truck's drive train and/or electronics.
what did u do about this? a new truck? or does it still run. I got a VMG on order as long as the 370 motor, and reading this makes me rethink the motor.

i just dont see how something as small and simple as a set of bearings can make that big of a difference. sounds like a sales pitch to get u to buy more stuff? please let me know how it all worked out, and what you did. thanks a bunch

A VMG isn't a Mini-Z, there are a lot of bushings in the thing! About 26 IIRC. That's almost three times as many as an Overland has. That all adds up to a lot of friction. Venom warns people on their website not to install the upgrade motor or 7 cell battery unless you have bearings installed. Many people have ignored this warning and actually melted the plastic bushings. My friend noticed while driving his while it was still stone stock that the motor got very hot after only 5 minutes of continuous running. He installed the bearings and now the motor can run until the battery dumps without getting overly hot. So, yes, the bearings make a huge differance over the plastic bushings. There's a reason why all the magazines recommend bearings for the first upgrade on any R/C.

well i know on the larger fast rc it makes a big difference. But this is a smaller slower mini, I dont plane on racing it at all. As soon as i get it, its gettting cut up into a crawler
