I have the Platnum series Radline monster truck with a few mods, Other than independant suspension front and rear it seems like a decent crawler, i made lockers for my front and rear diffs to get steady power and upgraded to the 32,000 motor no problems 3 and 2 wheeling over rocks but the front pinion gear is starting to slip on the shaft (pressed on nylon gear) when a tire gets lodged between rocks. I plan to turn in into a dedicated crawler soon.
I say go for it, I know i am having a blast scraping the hell out of the undercarriage

I built a 5:1 drop in gearbox and got massive gains in crawlability with the platnum monster, also weighted the tires for lower COG. The gearing also made the throttle feel a lot less twitchy. The only prob left is the crap tread on the tires. Someone should make crawler tires for these things!
For an independent suspension 4x4 the Radline is awesome I have been bashing the heck out of it for 2 weeks on the rocks and have not broken anything.
Oh yeah, the front pinion was an easy fix, rough up the shaft with sandpaper and JB welded it on.
