Mini Z Cup
Just wondering how many people are going to make the pilgrimage to Upstate New York to attend the Kyosho Mini Z Cup scheduled on June 7th?? I for one plan on attending and know a few others (although this is our normal track ) Just wondering who I will be able to meet in the flesh. There are a lot of hotels to stay at in the area and really good places to eat (along with the normal franchises) This is going to ge a great opportunity to promote our obsession. Hope to see most there.

The Kyosho rules sorta suck and too far for me... in either location. MZR.com needs to get its own track (once we build one) to participate in the event
Mini-Z Cup, for racers that are too poor to build their own track, they have to spread their legs for the curve wall ...

I agree that the rules suck. and think there are 2 ways we can go about it. One would be to boycott the race sponsered by Kyosho. I don't like that because there will always be people that will go anyway and I am actually looking forward to this organized event. . The other, (and what I plan ) is to try to get the ear of the event staff and bug the he!! out of them about the stupid rules . This way, I can have double the fun. One with the actual racing and the other being a major pain to the kyosho reps . AND Hopefully MysterE can repair my bothed up attempt at installing FETS to 2 of my PCB's so that I can run on the track during pratice with the "illeagle" car to show just what it can do. The track is very technical so speed alone is not going to help.

PAULANGELO, good idea; we've been trying to figure out what to say about the Cup. Everyone seems to agree that the rules are just awful, particularly in the US where GP has a monopoly and jacks the Kyosho prices up. A Mod class where the most powerful setup is an NA X-Speed!? One of the goals of http://Mini-ZRacing.com is to come up with a set of Rules for real, enjoyable racing. Keep an eye on the site for the first draft. And as Drac says, we will get the Michigan track together soon, it's imperitive. Please let us know how the Cup goes, and if you are able to make any headway with the reps. We've found the US "Kyosho" people very apathetic, and that is speaking as the largest English-speaking Mini-Z community in the world. Let us know if you'd like to send that botched Z PCB in for us to repair.

If your looking for any input on the rules, I wouldn't mind helping. After the CUP I can let you all know how it turned out and if there is anything that they hand out. Thanks for the offer with the PCB. I don't have them right now. I sent them to MysterE. Hopefully he received them Thursday. If not, he should have them Friday (sent them USPS on Monday ) If he can't help out, I'll take you up on your offer. Thanks .

I haven't heard from anyone but Drac and Mini Z?? isn't anyone going? So far, There have only been 25 advance entry forms. I just purchased (used) a F1 to race in that class too. As of last night, There were only 6 entries in that class. Come on guys! I know Upsate NY isn't the most glamerous place to have this (and in a mall no less). There have to be alot of people in the NY, Vermont, Mass, New Hampshier, Penn and New Jersey area that would like to take part in this. isn't there ??

PaulAngelo,
Where would it better be? In a mall people who know nothing about RC racing or Mini Zs will have them right before their eyes.
We don't need to promote this hobby to those who already participate. We need to promote it to those who know nothing about it.
They need to insure that the track is visible to the crowds passing by in the mall.

BobT,
The mall referance was directed at the racers themselves, not for the promotional aspect of the Mini Z race. The shop where this is going to take place has 3 tracks and the entire store front is glass. You can see all 3 tracks from the outside. I was thinking more of spending the day in a Mall at the beginning of June. If it could be setup in the parking lot (on a sunny day of course ) I would like it better (too many months cooped up inside ) You are correct though, being in the Mall will expose the sport of Mini Z racing to more of the public and hopefully draw more to our ranks.
But back to the reason for me posting in the first place,
Are you going to attend? this would be a great opportunity to meet the people that we read and communicate with via this forum.

NML, Can't argue with that. except, if Kyosho didn't exist, what would we be running? I plan on bringing my "official" cars along with 2 "outlaw" cars to the track that day. Hopefully I can bend the ear of the rep and persuade them to have a truly open class in the future. This way they can demonstraite how much BETTER their parts are from the compatitions . But events like this don't happen in our area too often. After the CUP, the shop is setting up a league that will include a truly open class.

Alas, it is too far from St. Louis and I have corrupted my Kyosho with parts from insidious aftermarket scum.
LOL!

Sorry to hear that. I also have polluted my Mini with after market parts. SO, I bought one and built another just for the race (They also will be polluted on June 8th ) Also have F1 coming with a Ball Diff and Bearing (figure odds are better running against only 6 instead of 25 ) Just hope I don't come in 7th .
