DC GTG Logo
i've been working with dusty weasle on gettng an actual logo for our club.... i will try to get all the prototypes uploaded the the dc gallery space tonight.
i want to get some feedback bascially....
potential for vinyl decals, scaled down mini-z size decals, etc, etc., etc. bascially i am interested in the decals but it's just as easy to do t-shirts these days
so, take a look (i'll post a direct link later) and let me know what you think

Already saw 2 that you had posted in your album. Posted comments on both of them. Both look real good.

Wow, I am impressed with the letters-in-car brush script style logos (all of the 'B' labeled logos). It's a pretty inventive incorporation of the initials, and it will scale excellently (which will be important if we ever want to put it on mini-zs). I guess my preference would go to B03 or B05 (maybe the B03 text with the B05 font?)...the simpler the text the better. Whichever one we go with, congrats to dusty weasle on delivering a pretty striking design.
Anyone else think the silhouette looks like a vintage bimmer?

The B/W dc car logo is pretty cool. Nice concept. I think I would choose between 03 and 05. 05 has the text that I associate with the group "Wash. Area GTG". So maybe that one.
I also really like the emblem. Maybe we could use it for T-shirts. I like the fact that it has my most recent autoscale on it

Did he do any versions with all caps text below? It seems to me if you find a nice solid font the text almost ends up looking like a driving surface:
It is more pronounced the smaller you scale it:
It would probably work better with DIN, but I don't have access to that font at home...you get the idea, though.
BTW, my apologies if I annoy dusty by changing the image while throwing in my 2 cents.

guys, i think that soyverde is absolutely right, that simple (and cleaner looking) fonts, tend to become a block, but in contrast, the more scripted-style fonts tend to look overwhelming and hard on the eyes. My two cents would to be drop the font alltogether, and when you need to print decals/logos or make banners for websites, then take the logo, and add the text to the left or right of it, instead of on the bottom of it. (especially if you want to print door decals) Roof/hood decals might end up having to text on the bottom, but on the actual car, it should be fairly nice, especially noting that real "race" logos are way small for anybody to really notice at first glance.

there are fonts with extended top strokes that would do what i think your talking about soyverde. i just don't have access to my font collection on the ntoebook.
i agree... a less fancy font would look cleaner for the bottom text.
dusty does good work though the concept is great! with some fine tuning it will be ready to plaster everywhere i can put it.
btw, even thinking about painting it onm the track ass well i've seen this done before and it looks good. a nice textured white paint would be perfect and would not cause slick spots.

I was worried more about the scaling than having an actual line...but I know exactly what you mean, and that would probably look even better. As I said before, I'm really impressed...very neat that we have a logo that could scale to mini-z size and still look great. I even showed it to my wife earlier (who also liked it). Thanks dusty!

Thanks everyone.
Here’s the new Core background I have so far. That previous version with the flat chrome didn’t come out as I had hoped, so I broke down and built it as a 3-D model to get the full-on ornamental chrome look. Pictured here is what I really had in mind.
The stuff at the top is still just stand-in. I need to know what screen resolution you run Core at so I can scale it and set the top bar elements. 1024x768 I’d imagine, but I want to be sure before I go editing.
