Considering how hard it is to get mini-z F-1's, what would you guys think of the same F-1, but without a transmitter?

I am sure that a lots of us already have a 27mhz AM transmitter lying around that we could use with these. I always wanted to try a mini-z F-1 but the price was always an issue. If the cars were available without transmitter and crystals for quite a bit less than $100 it would peak my interest.

Sounds like a winner. I know I've bought more AWD and MR-02 chaise kits then ready sets.

Would it have a body? If not, would it come with any extra parts?

i am surprised kyosho has not sold all the mini-z's in chassis kit form. too me it seemed hte logical thing to do since you only need one transmitter.
i would have to think the ma-101 chassis kit has been very sucessful. i know hte mr-01 chassis kit was offered but it seemed farily rare. i bought atleast one mr-02 chassis kit and preferred buyhing this way as the chassis kit comes with all the various rear end mounting peices. those too seemed hard to find however.
was the anniv. overland sold as a chassis kit?

Wow.... team atlas rims are nice. ^_^ Does anyone know when they'll be out or where to get them? I'm loving the audi dtms.

@ Tim Johnson - Is there a chance that Kyosho might release the DBR9 body for the mini-z's?

in my opinion this would be great. Most people that have several cars don't need any more transmitters, we have excess already and in some cases don't even use the stock ones anyway.

this is a great idea. they should do it with the MR-02's also.

They do. There're plenty at my LHS.

Though, the packaging is a little...off. They should come with the platforms like the AWD chassis sets do.

I don't mean just the chassis set. I would want the chassis and a body, but without the transmitter.

correct me if i'm wrong tim, but i believe they do offer chassis kits with bodies minus transmitters in japan. you can find them on ebay. they come in boxes like the initial d autoscales. i bought the mr-01 calsonic skyline this way for $80.

I agree, this is a great idea that should have been done sooner. Should do it with the entire Mini-Z line up, especially the Overlands and MZM!

BTW, why are the F-1s so hard to get?

I sure wish that Kyosho would bring all the cool parts and kits to the rest of the world that are only available in Japan...they could sell alot more stuff!

I think all of the Mini-Z should be packaged WITHOUT transmitters...

The perfex should be put in a box seperate from the readyset, however it should still be orderable in readyset form... you just get a car and tx box... heck you could even pick a better tx maybe?

They would be shipped maybe 100 cars, and 50 transmitters to each hobby shop.... this way they can fill both car only, and readyset orders... most of the perfex wind up as spare unused radios...

The F1 is the ideal package to start with this...

The transmitters are almost 8$ worth of shipping added to each order and there are a lot of buyers that do not even want the tx...

You could even go one step further and seperate the bodies from the chassis and when a readyset is ordered the dealer/store just ships/sells an autoscale chassis set, and transmitter... then you dont have to stock or manufacture any readyset boxes...

F1s look interesting, but I wouldn't pay full RTR cost. Chassis set I would do though. My first mini-z was an AWD chassis set, since I already had a 27AM Tx. Seems like most people here have anywhere from 1-10 regular perfex Tx, so I think chassis sets would be a great idea (not just for me).

Seems like K should be making more f1's since there is a lot of interest and they get bid up frequently. Perhaps they're aiming at a semi-collectable type of product where supply is artificially reduced somewhat to that purpose? Seems like most of the F1 owners would fall under the fan/collector category anyway and I'm sure the semi-rare nature makes them appreciate their collections all the more.

there will always be a need for full rtr kits for mini-z's due to the price range and target audience. always have been, always will. however other scales also sell/mainly sell kit form which kyosho seems to have done in limited number.
you can purchase chassis kits, semi-ready to run chassis kit and full ready to run kits. this is what kyosho has been doing all along already but they have not always been available in desired qnty or have been regional specific.

i would propose limiting the number of full rtr kits in luie of more semi-rtr and chassis kits.

splitting orders into many boxes is bad... no one wants to ship anything like that and it a pointless argument considering the options kyosho already provides. see the new kyosho packaging for awd as example of how packaging should be vs. the boxes we get now for others. harly anyone would buy the stock tx if it was offered seperatly in my opinion. especially for what kyosho would have to charge for it. entirely better off spending a bit more on something with options.

the autoscale level is bad yes...
but the tx vs car set is not bad.... the boxes could be strapped together in packaging... thus making it one box/product... and retailers could optionaly split the strap making it 2 products...
