AZGT and OLPS Schedule

***August AZGT Schedule***
AND
***September OLPS in August***

Emergency change in plans. This Saturday will be both an OLPS and AZGT day. (Posting in both threads so neither schedule is missed)

We just discovered that everyone is busy in September, with our only available club date on the PN Regional race day (September 29th). So, we are going to run the September OLPS (Race #5/6) in the morning on August 18th, and the AZGT in the afternoon.

The schedule below is a guide and will be altered on-the-fly to fit things in as necessary. To get this all in will be an extremely long and busy day, so please have your cars and batteries ready to go so you don't miss your Heats.

To squeeze the time down I'm eliminating the CW Practice Sessions as we usually get sufficient time after track setup. There will still be CCW sessions to get warmed up in the other direction so we don't drive like clown cars.

Any track with a Heineken logo has to kick ass!!!! I think we should have to do a mandatory pitstop in the main , but instead of a mandatory battery change it is a mandatory to down a Heineken before your last lap.

For the next AZGT series next time I propose the following:

1. Race the course in 1 direction only.

2. Race multiple classes.
2a. 2wd only stock fets class
2b. 4wd sedan bodies only class with stock fets.
2c. open class run whtever body, motor, electronics chassis whatever class
2d. F1 stock fets class

3. Run 2 rounds of qualifying for each class
4. qualifiers would be 5 minutes each
5. Run 15 minute mains for each class

6. Points would be awarded in typical 100,98,97,96 procedure as normal but you would also score 1 point per lap. Example win the A'main with 100 laps would be 200 points, however if you had a bad day qualifying but won the B'main with 110 laps you would score 90 for 1st in the B plus 110 for laps being a total of 200 points.

I know of at least 4 people with F1 and $wd cars that would like to get a chance to run them.

I think an open class would be more attractive to people who race other scales of cars asll ready as they look more like real rc race cars.

*** AZGT Week 5 Results ***

The AZGT season is winding down with the final Sprint round of Season III. Bill designed a very fun track but was unfortunately called into work missing the day. Such are the perils of the hobby.

With only the 1hr Le Mans round left to go, Brad has now locked his position as the AZGT Season III Champion. Hood has locked 2nd place, and Joe moved ahead of the absent Bill to take over 3rd. The maximum points that can be scored in the Le Mans is 11. Joe now holds that 3rd spot by only 10 points, so Bill could technically still steal the final podium position back.

The PN World Cup Arizona Regionals will be here in September, so the 1hr Le Mans season finale will be in October.

***October AZGT Schedule***

This is it, the AZGT Season III finale, the 1 Hour Le Mans. A single race for the day, one direction, and a maximum of 11 points can be scored. 1st and 2nd were a lock as of last month, but Bill could still take 3rd away from Joe by one point. And technically I could do the same to 4th place.

I had been debating between a large and medium track for this and settled on the medium layout. Since this is a long race, that will allow people to sit and drive if they need to and still have a decent view of the track. We'll use my Nessie layout another time.

The AZGT Championship

At the The Long Carrusel

Saturday, October 27th
Don Jackson Enterprises / Phoenix Porsche

The weather is great and the DJ's shop is nice and cool. Hope to see you all there!

*** AZGT Week 6 Results ***

That wraps up another season of the AZGT Championship. Everyone stepped up their game for a lot of fun and challenging racing. We also had some new drivers join the lineup late in the season, and we look forward to their added challenge in the season to come.

With those new drivers we had nine cars on track battling for position. There was as much contact as can be expected, but there was very little damage and most of the cars rolled across the line an hour later.

Brad and Hood had locks on 1st and 2nd place, but the battle was between Joe and Bill for 3rd, and DJ and myself for 5th. We managed to hang on to our spots, but Bill did close the gap on Joe by scoring well in Qualifying.

Since the busy holiday season is upon us we'll be skipping December racing, starting Season IV of the AZGT, along with the ATM and F1, in January. There is a non-points test day for the three series on November 24th at DJ's for those that can attend. It's a chance to tune your AWD and F1's on a large track and to work out any kinks with running three series in one day.

Congratulations to our podium scorers and I look forward to racing you all next season.
