Well, I had a little bit of time this afternoon to add the rest of the straight sections to my first Mini-Tile 96 track. This track is a lot more fun to run on due to the longer straights, duh!
Anyway, here’s some pics. Remember this is one Mini-Tile 96 track.
Now this evening I’ll start assembling the second track! Then we’ll really see the possibilities. Stay tuned!
BTW, whatever the contest, I'm in, what the heck.

Excellent pics Hammer. Thanks for taking the time to post 'em.
I must agree, the width is more to scale of an F1 track. Adding the 30cm blank tile will definitely allow racers to get up to speed on the straights and the sweeper at both ends of the straight but have the infields more technical and tight with the standard 30cm track width. Malaysian Sepang track comes to mind.
As was posted, if one can drive on this track, the Wide will be a piece-o-cake

hmmm... get a ROOMBA vacuum bot.. and let it loose on the track LOL.. the boarders will keep it on the track, sort of an obstacle to race around .
maybe we can hack the computer out of it, and replace it with mini-z controls and make it an RC Roomba

One problem is that the OL belongs to the cats--Bennie is very protective of his R/C cars. I only borrowed it to race it a couple of times and I also had to remove all the cat hair from the axles and wheels.

I spent my extra time last night just running laps on the track I last posted pics of, instead of opening the second track. This track width is challenging, but with practice you get a feel for the proper line and lets face it, with a track in your living room, there’s no excuse not to practice!
As I have time today I will start adding sections from the second track to fine tune my current track layout, for the space I have. Fun, fun, fun!
I’ll post pics when I’ve got something new.

A quick update. I just finished assembling the second Mini-Tile 96 track and after putting two of these together I have some suggestions.
Organize all your parts before you start the assembly process, this will save you a lot of time. All of the straight side rails stacked together facing the same direction helps greatly. Dump the pins out of the big bag and separate the tops from the bottoms into two piles. The corners are made up of four mat sections, two straight mat sections and an inside corner mat section and an outside corner mat section. Put these four mat corner sections together and then attach the side rails accordingly. Once that has been accomplished install the remaining straight side rails to the remaining straight mat sections.
I found when screwing the pin tops into the bottoms it is helpful to first turn the top in a counterclockwise direction until you see and feel the threads seat properly and then screw them down tight.
These tracks are very cool I’m going to work on my track now and I’ll post pics when I have a new Hammer Speedway configuration. I’ll probably start with some subtle changes and work my way up to using as much of the second track as possible.

Okay, here’s the first addition. The first pic is the second track assembled, stacked and ready to go. The rest are the first modification of the last track I posted. Enjoy.
I’m moving forward and will post more later.

Nice pics.
I thought that I was anal-retentive but your pin alignment is enough to get you institutionalized.

Ken, I’m surprised you noticed. Actually when attaching the rails to the mats it’s pretty easy to align the pins on the Mini-Tile track because the overall pin height is pretty close to the side rail+mat thickness. So snug the pin down and align, however you choose. Seems silly not to align them in some manner
Anyway here’s one of the larger Mini-Tile tracks. Uses all but a few pieces, which I’ve posted in the first pic. If you’ve kept up from the beginning of this thread you should be able to follow the pic sequence. I have a couple more pics I'll post next.
