Question Wheel offset specs

It's just slightly frustrating to shop for replacement wheels when most offerings don't specify the wheels' offsets. The stock specs displayed with the Tagu offerings has helped to a point, but it can be just as difficult to find offerings of stock Kyosho replacements. For now, I'm trying to find a stock front/rear set of MR-01 Ferrari F40 wheels for their 2.5/2.0 offsets (would rather not have to buy an autoscale just for the wheels).

Does anyone know of a source(s) that might offer front/rear matched sets with various offset options other than Tagu? Or listings that give offset specs for their offered sets? Already wasted money on one set only to find that the offsets were inappropriate.

Thanks,
N-Hawk

I was wondering the same thing.
Is there a wheel database somewhere that shows which wheels fit what cars etc.?

Example: Stock wheels from the Impreza will fit Car-A, Car-B etc. along with the offset(s). Aftermarket wheels could also be included in the database as well.
It would be a nice reference if someone has the knowledge and the time to make one if it's not already available.

GPM produces wide/narrow wheels with/without offset, it's not difficult to find a two pair of matching rims with desired width/offset.

but i think (not sure) GPM only provide either NO offset or 2.5mm offset.

gpm only caries a couple variations and lists them according to the very old body lines that kyosho intially released with a few exceptions. kyosho however has produced numerous offset variations as can be seen in the tagu listing which is not a complete listing. gpm's attempt to provide some form of matching is poor at best. the only listing i've seen from kyosho simply lists narrow vs. wide per body type which ofcourse means nothing or little.

the best you will find right now is the tagu list... you will then have to cross reference the body type with teh gpm listings. it really shgouldn't be this difficult all you would need is one master list that all the aftermarket manuf. could pick and choose from making it very simple to get what you need from anyone that adopts the format.

Almost all the Ferrarri's use a special offset of some sort or another (F40, Enzo, Modena) not sure of the others. The Enzo, because it's the first MR02 most will say it's the standard offset. Me, I call it a standard offset if it's zero or in the case of the MR01 wide that is common a 2.5mm offset. The MR02 standard to me is the NSX offset (zero offset front and rear, with 11mm wide rear and 8.5mm wide front). I would like to get something better for my F40 than the stock wheels, I have no idea how they held up this long.

With all the oddball offsets floating around someone needs to fill that gap.

Whatever happened to the wheels that MZR was working on? Any updates on that please...?

To clear up the listing-
MR01
Standard- 8.5mm wide front and back, zero offset.
Semi-wide- 9.5mm wide rear, and maybe 1mm front offset?
Wide- 11mm rear and no offset, 8.5mm wide and 2.5mm offset front.
MR02
Standard-11mm rear no offset, 8.5mm front no offset. Can be used on the MR01 Lancia Stratos as well.

Anything other than that I call an oddball offset.

Regarding F40 wheels...GPM F40 style wheels are available at a shop here in the US. The offset is .5mm more than the stock F40 offset. They are available in black, blue and silver. They work nice with the Ferrari's (F40, 360) and other wider types like the Skyline and C5.

More than any other Mini-z the F40 has a tight fit, Even the stock (F40) wheels the clearance between tire and body is very close. The funny thing is it is closer in the rear.

Yeah my brother didn't like the GPM's at first because he had to take out his lowering spacers(for his f40 body). He just told me it's actually only the front offset that has .5mm more offset. We've traded them back and forth a couple times and he currently has them.

Good idea! I'll start putting together such a chart since I've been looking into it already. Anyone who has offsets for those cars not listed in Tagu's chart (i.e. Ferrari F50 MR-02, new Ferrari 575M, etc.), please send them to me at nhawk@nhawksys.com for addition. It would be helpful if some aftermarket suppliers would add their specs for listing as well, but I won't hold my breath. LOL

If you are doing a chart. It will need a cross reference for the MR01>MR02. Just as a rule of thumb, the MR02's front end is 5mm wider than the MR01's so the 2.5mm offset is already built into it. The rear is the same.

I would like to find out more about the Mini-zRacer wheels.

The spreadsheet looks great and will be a big help to me!
I am in the design phase of manufacturing aluminum wheels for the Mini-Z.
So finding the most common offset/size will determine which wheels I make first as prototypes.
If you have any input on which offset/size you think is most common, please let me know.
As more info gets added to the spreadsheet, please post it here or make a new thread dedicated to just that topic so we can all keep up to date.
I wish I could offer more input towards the subject, but I just got into Mini-Z's a few weeks ago but have been into R/C for many years.
