You might look at this as well PVC Pond Liner. Very good traction, you can get it in various widths, lengths, and thicknesses. I used a thin 4-5 mil version when I made my first track years ago. It came on a roll but at the time I could only get it in 66 inch width. Now I have found it all the way up to a 48 foot width. Prices can be as little at $0.33 a Square foot.
The pond liner comes in various thicknesses (up to like 33mm). The 4mm I used I glued (liquid nails) to Masonite and cut rack sections (think slot car track). It worked pretty well, you could build over passes and could create just about any turn radius you wanted. I used foam pipe insulation for the rails the bigest problem was the joints. I was able to smooth them out pretty well though with some transition sections I made. I looked for pic today but wasn't able to find them.
