fornt servo/ steering issues

Today my OL started not responding to steering at times,
and when I picked it up, I gunned the throttle,
and the front wheels twitched back and forth,
and stopped when I let go.

Sometimes they twitch all by themselves.
I'll turn it off, change batteries & turn it back on,
it runs fine for a short amount of time,
and then stops responding again, etc.

can anyone tell me what this is, and how I might fix it?

Thanks,
StuZ

Are the batteries on the transmitter good? (don't rely on the LED indicator)
How about the 2 motor capacitors?

If your batteries are good, check your antena. make sure it didn't come off of the board. The soldering in these things can be alot better

Oh, I hope that is it!!!

Yeah, the screw for the antenna to the chassis was a bit loose.
I ran the truck for a few minutes, and it now seems fine.

I hope that was it, I just sent my racer to drac for repair,
So to have both down would be awful!!
(aw, shucks, I guess I need a couple more... ;-)

thanks miketre, PUALANGELO, and Draconius.

I'm betting there is a good chance one of the 4 wires that run from the circuit board into the front servo case is broken or just about broken. Mine did the exact same thing. Mine were broken on the circuit board side, right where they connect to the board. Those wires aren't very flexible and from twisting and turning it trying to resolder it two more of the wires broke off. After resoldering them they end up just a hair shorter and mine came real close to interfering with the suspension travel after it was all back together. Longer more flexible wire would be a good idea if you have any.

yeah, that was the case,
do you have any suggestions for soldering?
I've never soldered onto a pcb before.

A small pencil tip soldering iron. I think mine is a 25 watt iron I paid a dollar for---don't use a soldering gun, it'll get too hot. Look at it very closely before you do anything. Notice how it looks like the wire is shorting two of the terminals, make sure you do the same. Most importantly---use very little solder, and make SURE you don't get a blob of solder anywhere else or it'll go boom when you turn it on
